The correct answer to yesterday's indecipherable logo of the day is:
e) Defleshuary
This Lancaster, Pennsylvania grindcore/death metal band was formed three years ago by Rick Shirk as a one-man project that united his loves for gore films and death metal. Defleshuary quickly recorded the seven-song Feasting on Torso demo before Shirk decided he wanted to play shows and needed bandmates.
He sought musicians influenced by Mortician, Exhumed, Putrid Pile and old Carcass and soon found drummer Tim Ashley and second guitarist Kern. In late 2005, Defleshuary recorded their second demo, You Could Wake Up Dead Tomorrow, which, due to time constraints, was recorded with a drum machine instead of a live drummer.
However, in spring 2006, the band entered the studio to record six tracks for its demo EP, Mutilated and Skinned Alive. After its release, Ashley quit and was replaced by Dave Bazow. Impressed by Defleshuary's low-fi recordings and crushing live shows, Homicide Watch Records signed the band, which, in December 2006 re-entered the studio with new bassist John Linger and recorded two new songs, which they included on the re-release of the EP, which was retitled Zombie Plague, Rampant Horror and released on February 18, 2007.
Reads a message on Defleshuary's MySpace page, "The band hopes to continue progressing and writing fun and enjoyable death metal while playing as many shows as possible."
