Bless the Fall

This one goes right up there with the unseen video footage of My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way getting all the ligaments in his foot torn when he was strangled and decked by guitarist Frank Iero during the making of the “Famous Last Words” video. While shooting live footage in Rural Pennsylvania for their upcoming music video for “Guy Like You,” Craig Mabbitt, frontman for metalcore band Bless the Fall, took a guitar headstock to the mouth and wound up spitting out his teeth.

Guitarist Eric Lambert, who was responsible for the singer’s fall, had this to say: “We did our first shot in the basement of a barn. It was a very tight area with not much room and someone was bound to get hurt at sooner or later. It unfortunately had to happen to Craig.

“I threw my guitar back thinking Craig wasn’t near me and when I ripped my guitar forward, Craig’s teeth and flesh came with it,” Lambert continued. “We immediately stopped to see if he was okay. When he looked up at me I thought we were going to have to cancel the shoot. His face was a mess with broken teeth, a bloody eye, and a huge blood blister on his lower lip. He was in a good amount of pain, but he just took a few swigs of water, a sit down, and then was ready to get the shoot back on track.”

Bless the Fall finished the video shoot, but had to cancel five shows. “We found out it is near impossible to sing without your front teeth,” Lambert said. “The only way we would be able to continue as a full band on our upcoming tours is if we sent Craig home the next day to get his teeth fixed.”

Bless The Fall have chronicled the incident in vivid color on their blog . The group will resume touring on May 27, opening for All That Remains and Protest the Hero in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
