Rock Am Ring festival

Last weekend, the three-day Rock Am Ring festival — held at Rock im Park at the Nürburgring racetrack in Germany — featured a diverse lineup of rock and metal that kept crowds bouncing and headbanging from dawn to dusk.

Slayer, Korn, Stone Sour, Killswitch Engage, Type O Negative, Machine Head, The Used, Wolfmother and 30 Seconds to Mars are some of the louder acts that rocked the city. Not a bad lineup, but not quite up to the level of last year’s show, which included sets by Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Korn, Tool, Alice in Chains, Deftones and Trivium, to name a few. The highlight, of course, was Metallica, who, six songs into the show, played their classic 1986 thrash album Master of Puppets from front to back for the first time in years. And they killed.
