The answer to yesterday's "Indecipherable Logo of the Day" is D) Malignant Christ.
The Lowland/Seymour, Tennessee group describes itself on its MySpace page as "a two-piece brutal death metal band."
Why are there only two dudes left? Well, largely because former bassist Zebulon D. Rouse decided to imitate his favorite Scandinavian black metal bands a little too closely by stabbing a crew member repeatedly in the chest after an August 4 show. According to a report in the Knoxville News Sentinel, Rouse attacked crew manager Christopher McDowell with a butterfly knife that had been an onstage prop.
Singer Brandon Love told the Sentinel that during shows he uses the knife to stab a doll filled with strawberry jelly." He added that Rouse and McDowell were both sitting in the back seat of their van fighting about a battle of the bands show when Rouse pulled out the weapon. At the time, Love was driving the vehicle.
"[McDowell] was getting on [Rouse's] nerves quite a bit," Love testified in court. "He was getting a little bit mouthy."
"We have had many hardships in the short time we've been around but are hoping to bounce back in the next month or so," said the band on its Web site. "New songs should be up soon."
Check back next week for more "Indecipherable Logo" wackiness.
As promised, here's the new Every Time I Die video for "We'rewolf." The clip will debut on Headbangers Ball this weekend on MTV2. Enjoy.
A couple weeks ago, we premiered the new Heaven and Hell (otherwise known as Black Sabbath with Ronnie James Dio) video for "Shadows of the Wind" right here on the Headbangers Ball Blog. Now, feast your eyes on "The Mob Rules."
The clip comes from the band's recently released DVD "Live at Radio City Music Hall." If you're blind, it's also available as a double CD for your listening pleasure. If you're deaf, we can't really help you.
In the coming days, HBB will present a Podcast featuring a full interview with all five members of Heaven and Hell, in which they discuss the DVD and CD, their final North American tour (for now) and what the future may bring. So, stay tuned.

If you think Slayer are untouchable today you never saw them back in the mid '80s when guitarist Kerry King had hair and singer and bassist Tom Araya didn't tell the world he was a practicing Christian.
Well, now's your chance to flashback to a time when MTV airplay was a mere pipe dream for Slayer and the thought of someday winning a Grammy was completely laughable. The folks at www.Metalkult.com have posted footage from an out-of-print 1985 video called "The Ultimate Revenge," which featured sets by Slayer, Venom and Exodus.
The Slayer and Exodus sets were captured on the Combat Tour Live at the legendary disco club Studio 54, a strange location for an underground metal show, but one that served the need quite nicely. The Venom set was recorded at a later date since guitarist Mantas was MIA at the Studio 54 gig, forcing Venom to use two replacement guitarists.
But it's Slayer that we're concerned with here, and during their set, the band played the former staples of their show: "Die By the Sword," "The Antichrist," "Hell Awaits" and "Chemical Warfare." There's also a backstage interview and a promo spot for the label.
The videos are available in both streaming and download formats.

Here's this week's logo and it ain't pretty, but neither are the dudes in the band. The great thing about a bloody mess of a logo like this is if you look at it long enough, you can read practically anything in it that you want. Still, the pernicious musicians that reside beneath its infernal angles have but one title for their group and here are your choices.

Last Friday I was invited to speak at the National Alcohol and Drug Recovery Month Kick Off Luncheon in Washington D.C. in September. Apparently, I will be the first musician to speak at such an event; the other speakers include Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Administrator Dr. Terry Cline Ph.D., and Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) Director H. Westley Clark M.D., J.D. Its a great honor to be asked to participate and raise even more awareness to this global epidemic.
We can't help but wonder if he's gonna plug his book "The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star" (which comes out September 18) or if he'll tell all those doctors stories about doing mountains of blow from between the boobies of famous models?

A pair of blokes in England that call themselves Sir Garrack and Cheeky Dave have created a bunch of hilarious metal videos that combine the the spirit of Gavin Edwards' "Misheard Lyrics" books with the animation techniques of "South Park."
So far, the pair's output includes "interpreations of" Pantera's "5 Minutes Alone" and "F---ing Hostile," Slayer's "Angel of Death" and Machine Head's "Imperium." We'll get to them all in good time, but for now here's "F---ing Hostile."

Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford is offering fans a free MP3 download of his new song "Drop Out." The song is one of two new cuts from Halford's Metal God Essentials Vol 1, which comes out September 25.
The other new track, "Forgotten Generation," can be heard streaming on Halford's MySpace page.

We tried our best to ignore this aberrant blemish on the face of black metal, but after metal mags Revolver and Decibel both addressed it, we could no longer pretend it didn't exist.
Brazilian fashion designer Alexandre Herchcovitch, has assembled a spring and summer menswear line that includes long haired models wearing tattered threads and corpse paint, looking like an effeminate Behemoth. Perhaps Gorgoroth frontman Gaahl will put out a bounty on the designer dude's head. At the very least, maybe this will make black metal musicians pause for a moment before they apply their next coat of face paint.
For comparison purposes, here's Behemoth's video for "Conquer All":
On Saturday morning, Headbangersblog.com will post the new Every Time I Die video for the song "We'rewolf." Tune in to Headbangers Ball on MTV2 Saturday night to see it on the big screen. The track comes from the group's upcoming album The Big Dirty, which comes out September 4.
If you missed it, check out the guest blog from Every Time I Die's oddball frontman Keith Buckley about the band's run-in with horror film semi-celebrity Leatherface -- errr, Pleatherchest.
And now, for your viewing pleasure, here's "The New Black":
