Here is the link to our exclusive podcast interview with Heaven and Hell (aka Black Sabbath with Ronnie James Dio).

The Heaven and Hell interview was conducted a few days after the release of the band’s CD and DVD sets Live at Radio City Music Hall 2007 and features all four band members — singer Ronnie James Dio, guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Vinnie Appice.

During the conversation, the guys joke around about renaming “Heaven and Hell” “Heaven and Sausages,” Dio insists he’s taking on a second career as a boxing promoter and the musicians share their shoe sizes. There’s also a great story about a show-halting fire alarm in New Zealand, some conjecture about when the upcoming Van Halen tour will self-destruct and some revealing information about what Ronnie, Tony, Geezer and Vinnie have planned when the Heaven and Hell tour finally ends.

The Heaven and Hell interview is the first in a weekly podcast series on Headbangers Ball Blog. In addition to being able to hear the discussions on the site, pretty soon you’ll also be able to get them on iTunes.

Now, here’s a video of Heaven and Hell decades ago when they actually called themselves Black Sabbath. Enjoy “Neon Knights”:

  4. Hello there!
I’m so glad to hear about the NEW HEAVEN AND HELL ALBUM IN 2008!!!! (according to an interview with Geezer). Looking forward to it, thank God they put Ozzy away and doing some stuff with Ronnie. I know this is going to be a F****** GREAT ALBUM!!! Prepare to a Heavy Metal Storm next year!!

  5. Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! So great to hear these guys in an interview where they are “vibing” off of each other.

The only negative thing about it was that we didn’t get a commitment to a new CD!! I would love to hear a new CD of original brand new material.

  6. Black Sabbath/Heaven & Hell ROCKS !! Saw you at KB-Hallen, Denmark!! ..

You guys are the best live !!
NO ONE, can play like you !!

  7. Dio ROCKS!!! Still the best singer that I have ever heard! Is he immortal?! LOL! HE actually sounds better! Black Sabbath with Ronnie forever! Thank you so much for the great music after all these many, many years, even with Ozzy, and I hope you guys continue to make magic. Dio, are you going to continue with the story of Magica?

  8. HEAVEN AND HELL
    DIO FOREVER

  9. Por favor, vengan a Puerto Rico

  10. I AM A DOCTOR IN FRANCE…AND I FOLLOW YOUR NEWS SINCE…1975.YOU ARE MY BEST TEAM.

  11. I will say that I’ve seen Ronnie perform about 30 times in my life. I feel that this is the best line up there could ever be in the Black Sabbath band. As far as Toni, I will say that he is one of the most under rated guitarist and that its a shame that todays rock industry will not recognize bands like this as part of the voting charts. Ronnie, Toni, Geezer, and Vinny. You all hold a place on my voting chart. Thanks for the memories!!!

    Gman

  12. i saw heaven and hell in tampa florida..what a incredible show..i saw dio 6 times and this performance was unforgettable..my girlfrien saw dio for the first time and was in amazment how powerful his voice was..dio is the ultimate..metal singer…

  13. I saw H&H a few weeks ago and they blew my mind. Tony is my favorite guitarist and to see him live from the 4th row was awesome. I was lucky enough to get one of his pics.

Dio and Geezer were amazing and Vinny put on a good show. Geezer is amazing to watch his fingers were flying on the strings the whole show.

Dio is the ultimate metal vocalist and his stage presence and interaction with fans pulls it all together. He smiles throughout the show. It is so cool seeing how much fun these guys have while giving us fans a great show.

  14. Heaven And Hell is great! Dio is the King!

  15. My boyfriend and I are going to see H&H Oct 6. I have seen them, in various incarnations, many times but my boyfriend has not. I am SOOO excited and can’t wait for him to see how great they are.

  16. Saw the show in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada March 18/07 Kicked some major arse… Loved Down (Phil Anselmo, Rex Brow, Pepper, etc) as well. Seen alot of concerts but not many as good as this one.

  17. recently saw the show in st louis. allthree bands were great was on the floor so my ears were stiil ringing two days later. was dissappointed in the st louis metal fans though beacause there could not have been more than a few thousand at the show. they were even selling buy one get one free tickets the last week prior to the show. people dont know what they missed.

  18. saw them in may at allstate and in sept. at sears and they are the teachers of rock they played southern cross I and edge of the world

  19. We recently saw Heaven and Hell at the Sears Center in Chicago. The show was totally awsome!! I will never forget it and will look forward to seeing Dio again.
    Thanks!

  20. I’ve seen Heaven and Hell some days ago in Sunrise ,Florida.
These guys rules, was one of the best concerts i’ve ever seen.
    Patrick

  21. I’ve seen this tour 5 times…so far, including the RCMH show. They have been phenomenal every time.

  22. Witnessed the spectacle of the Radio City and Jones Beach shows. Like a fine wine, these guys get better with age. Thought “Sign of the Southern Cross” was the highlight of the Jones show, until Tony and Geezer tore it up during the extended “H&H” jam. “Next to my kid being born, this (the Jones show) is the greatest nite in the history of my life…”

  23. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing both oZZy and Dio as the frontmen for Sabbath during my hellraising youth, and i can say without a doubt,Dio kicks his ass. That little feller can sing his ass off!!This brings back some trippy memories….microdot and everclear go very well together; For a while anyway….lol

  24. DENVER RULED!!! YOU RULE!!! WE ALL RULE!!!! JUST NEED A LITTLE VOODOO!!!! ALRIGHT!!!!
