The answer to yesterday's Indecipherable Logo is Blaspherian, as some of your correctly guessed.

The Houston, Texas Satanic death metal band was formed in 2004 by singer Desekrator and guitarist Wes Infernal (ex-Imprecation, Infernal Dominion). The band adopted its moniker from the word Luciferian and pledged to pursue all that is blasphemous and brutal. Read more...

We figured you all have had enough of Otep Shamaya for a while... Just kiddin'!

Her weekly "Might Makes Write" guest blog always elicits a frenzied response from you guys, and Otep's videos regularly draw loads of viewers from all walks of metaldom. So, we're thrilled to be able to premiere the band's new video for the song "Confrontation."

We'll totally abstain from making any snarky or judgmental comments, lest we fall prey to her new crusade to call out mean critics who can't write. So, we'll just agree that the song rocks, the video kicks ass and let her talk about the particulars.

"We filmed the video partly in my apartment and mostly on one of the trendiest streets (Robertson Blvd) in all of Los Angeles where celebutards and other noteworthy icons go to shop, feast, and (of course) be seen and swarmed by scores of hungry paparazzi," Otep tells HBB Blog. "It was a beautiful event for me to invade one of their most sacred places with our monstrous message of rogue individuality, cerebral responsibility, and frenzied resistance to the status quo. We frightened many and awakened a few more. They had never seen or heard anything like us and I adored every minute of it."

Them Overkill guy might not have been too musically influenced by Kiss, but they sure seemed to have learned a thing or two from Gene Simmons' marketing skills (and fortunately not from his gift for shooting amateur adult video).

For their new album, Immortalis, the old-school thrash band recruited happening Lamb of God singer Randy Blythe to provide guest vocals, then roped him into shooting the video with them (which we've debuted below). As if that's not a major enough selling point, Overkill also interspersed footage from their performance at last year's Wacken Open Air Festival. Not so coincidentally, the band's new DVD, "Live at Wacken," was shot at the same concert.

Says singer Bobby Blitz Ellsworth, "The track comes to life with the Wacken footage. It is like a slasher engineering a runaway train with 40,000 witnesses, mixed with the location shots we did with Randy and I. The video brought the song to visual life."

The narrative segments of "Skull & Bones were directed by Kevin Custer (Hatebreed, Madball). "I packed up the cameras in NYC and headed down to Virginia to rock out a slamming shoot with Bobby and Randy," he said. "We had a blast - everyone was on point. The vid looks sick!"

Blythe, whose appreciation of Overkill goes back to the days they still had guitarist Bobby Gustafson and drummer Rat Skates in the band, was thrilled at the invitation to join his childhood heroes. "There's nothing more fun than drinking beer and lip-syncing along to heavy metal for 10 hours in a 20 degree warehouse with Bobby Blitz," joked Blythe before giving us a straight answer. "Getting to make a video with f--king Overkill in my home town wasn't just cool, it was my sacred duty to help them crack some skulls and break some bones." Amen to that.

Since we've already covered the Cavalera Conspiracy in great depth in three video interview sessions (check them out here, here and here), we won't say too much about the band's debut video for "Sanctuary." But we will let frontman Max Cavalera get in a few more words.

"I'm excited about the 'Sanctuary' video," he says. "Apart from being the first video I'm in with my brother Iggor since the "Roots" video in 1996, "Sanctuary" is a cool video. It was filmed in France, where the Conspiracy Monster killed the camera men, crew and video director. That alone is worth watching."

Generally, we're pretty stoked about video premieres, but this one's gotten us especially fired up -- and not just because it's the closest we'll get to seeing King Diamond this year since he hurt his back in 2007 and has been unable to tour (Check out our King Diamond podcast interview for details of the injury). Even more significant, "Give Me Your Soul" is KD's first music video since 1989's "Sleepless Nights." Before we dig into this week's indecipherable logo we have a jackal's bone to pick with some of our readers. Last week we received two separate emails accusing us of stealing our idea for "Indecipherable Logo of the Day" from Metalsucks.net's "Completely Unreadable Band Logo of the Week."

Obviously, those contentious f---wits didn't bother doing any research because if they had it would have been perfectly clear that Headbangersblog came up with the idea first. Metalsucks.net's first "Unreadable Band Logo" was Vomitory (a poor choice since even a new age fan with cataracts and glaucoma could read that logo), and it was posted on April 12, 2007. By comparison, our first Indecipherable Logo of the Day, Nagelfar, was posted on February 28, 2007. So we ask you, who's copying who?

Now that we got that off our twisted minds, let's dive into our latest entry. This logo may be hard to read, but it's easy to understand what the band stands for and where its liturgical allegiances lie. While it's possible that the art embellishments on the left and right side of the image are swords, there's no question that the middle image is an inverted cross, and just to prove how evil they are, these guys put a pentagram in the middle of of it. In other words, we doubt they're going to be part of the Living Sacrifice and Demon Hunter Tour. Let us know who you think they are and we'll give you the correct answer tomorrow.

The last time we spoke to Behemoth frontman Adam "Nergal" Darski he told us there's a perceived rivalry between his band and technical death veterans, Nile, but that such reports are completely unfounded.

Be that as it may, if we were in ancient Rome and both bands were equipped with full gear and placed in the Coliseum 50 yards apart, only one would one would emerge victorious. The other would likely be dismembered and fed to the lions.

To be honest, we're absolutely torn about who would win a rock-off to the death. Both bands have long histories and lots in common. They both emerged in the early '90s, have endured numerous lineup changes since then and have proven that there are few other bands that can match their technical skill and abundant creativity. They also share a skill for destroying venues live.

Of course, there are also differences. While Behemoth encompass elements of death and black metal, Nile are steeped in technical death metal, and where Behemoth rail against Christianity and authority, Nile specialize in Egyptian themes and HP Lovecraft worship. Watch both videos and share your thoughts.

Christian death metal band Living Sacrifice have about as much in common with Van Halen as with Shakira. But that doesn't mean the dudes in the band, especially singer Bruce Fitzhugh, don't retain a special love for the arena rockers from their youth, back in the days when Sammy Hagar was happy singing "I Can't Drive 55" and Gary Cherone was six years from being more than words. Who knows? Maybe Van Halen's decision to come back to life in some way encouraged Living Sacrifice to reunite for the first time since their 2003 breakup. And he and his bandmates are praying they can live conjure a mere spark of the excitement of the Van Halen Reunion tour. Fitzhugh explains:

Van Halen was supposed to be my first concert. Read more...

When it comes to extracurricular activities, we're sure Saviours have a lot in common with High on Fire, but that's not the main reason why Saviours frontman Austin Barber made High on Fire's "Rumors of War" his Bang of the Week.

“I chose it because it classically beats your head like Motorhead's 'Overkill' did when it first came out," he says. "Des [Kensel's] drumming is unrelenting on this one, and after the break, when Matt's solo kicks in, it continues getting more and more bad-ass. With [bassist Jeff] Matz now in the mix, it feels like High on Fire is truly complete and where they're going with the new tunes is a rad place.”

Now, let's watch:
