It's hard to believe that more than a decade has passed since Soulfly frontman Max Cavalera and his brother and drummer Iggor recorded together in Sepultura. Stranger still, during that time the brothers -- who were once closer than Eddie and Alex Van Halen -- didn't speak a word to each other. Fortunately, as the saying goes, time heals all wounds, and over the past 18 months, the Cavalaras have reconnected. (click read more to find out how in a video interview with Max and Iggor Cavalera).
Of course, reconnecting soon led to jamming. And that resulted in a new band, Cavalera Conspiracy, which will release its debut album, Inflikted, on March 25. The group, which also features Soulfly guitarist Marc Rizzo and Gojira bassist and singer Joe Duplantier, plays a menacing hybrid of punk and thrash that should immediately appeal to fans of early '90s Sepultura.
Over the next few days, Headbangersblog.com will present exclusive interview footage with the Cavaleras about their new band and their new bond. In our first two clips, they discuss what it was like to break the 10-year silence and how they chose their name. Stay tuned tomorrow for more.
