For his Bang of the Week, it might have been a good business decision for Hate Eternal frontman Erik Rutan to pick an artist whose album he produced, but Rutan ain't about nepotism (look it up), so he chose Nile's "Papyrus Containing the Spell to Preserve Its Possessor Against Attacks," which was produced by Neil Kernon.
"First of all, this song just rules," enthuses Rutan. "I listen to this album, Ithyphallic, on tour all the time. Nile is really one of the true death metal bands still around creating amazing music."
Rutan's enthusiasm for the song would surely justify his vote, but he's also crazy about the vid: "Any video that has crocodiles in it has to get two thumbs up," he declares. "All of the shots of [guitarist and vocalist] Karl [Sanders] and [guitarist/vocalist] Dallas [Toler-Wade] are stellar and the views of [drummer] George [Kollias] make you realize he has the power of Zeus behind him. I like the desert vibe and it has a kind of gritty look to it that's very different from the norm, which is awesome."
Well, don't just take Erik's word for it:
