Even if Exodus hadn't taken Warbringer under their wing and showed 'em the ropes on tour we've got a feeling that Warbringer guitarist Adam Carroll still would have chosen Exodus' "Riot Act" video as his Bang of the Week. Just listen to the dude's playing. There's no question that those chainsaw riffs and flailing solos were largely influenced by Exodus axeman Gary Holt, ex-guitarist Rick Hunolt and current shredder Lee Altus. Sure, Warbringer were also inspired by Slayer, early Metallica, Sodom, Kreator et al., but the most pungent flavor in their sound in Exodus, and it's something they're hardly ashamed of, as they revealed in an interview story earlier this year. "We just got finished spending five weeks on the road with Exodus, our first national tour." Gushed Carroll. "We were honored to be selected as an opener by these legends. Their new video "Riot Act" is another smashing stab of nonstop aggression from their new album. The clip looks pretty high-tech with lots of effects and a bad-ass meteor (complete with pentagram) soaring through space, about to crash into planet Earth. I heard the video was created by the dudes who do "Metalocalypse," which is cool. The editing is pretty rampant, bordering on epileptic at times but I suppose this adds to the frantic nature and tempo of the song and theme of the video. We love the solo section in the middle by two of the best metal guitarists Gary Holt and Lee Altus, definite influence on John and I. Plus, these guys are so cool and down-to-earth. It's amazing when you get a chance to tour with your heroes. Also, it's great to see Tom Hunting back behind the kit, another great guy and influence on Ryan (thanks for letting us borrow your cymbal!).
Now, here's the vid:
