Last week, in our exclusive Demon Hunter podcast interview, frontman Ryan Clark talked about lots of stuff, including the band’s new video for “Carry Me Down.” No need to keep praying for its arrival, we’ve got it for you right here. But first, here’s Clark, who’s temporarily returned from storming the gates of hell to tell us about the clip.
“The video was shot over two days on Whidbey Island, which is about an hour north of Seattle, and was directed by Zach Merck [who also worked on the band’s video for ‘Fading Away,’” Clark tells Headbangers Ball Blog. “The weather was absolutely freezing, but the overall experience was amazing.” click “read more” to hear more from Clark and watch the video.
Since many of Demon Hunter’s past videos have been performance-based, the band wanted to add more narrative elements into the mix. “We wanted to do something more organicand artistic,” Clark says. “We really wanted to strip down the performance aspect in this video and let the story line take precedence. This song is one of the mellowest songs we’ve recorded, and conveying an emotional aspect through the video was very important to us. We’re extremely pleased with how it turned out.”
Let us know if you’re pleased as well. Here’s “Carry Me Down.”:

I luv the song God really talks to me.But Iwant to find there music notes of this songlol
Hey Tim,
The song is about the death of someone who believes in God. He’s telling his friends and family to not worry about where he is in the afterlife, but to be concerned with those who have no knowledge of a loving God. “Save sorrow for the souls in doubt…” The video, which is mostly conceptual, reflects the themes of death, friendship and the afterlife (the car disappears).
Here’s the lyrics:
And if you see me losing ground
Don’t be afraid to lie
I know the pain inside my heart
Can’t break the fear inside of yours
And if you see me losing faith in what it means to die
Don’t let me leave before I know what lies beyond the stained-glass doors
Save sorrow for the souls in doubt
Bleed every care out
Will you carry me down the aisle that final day,
with your tears and courage shaking from the weight?
When you lower me down beneath that sky of grey,
let the rain fall down and wash away your pain.
For every word we never spoke,
We have a tear to cry
For every silence’s like a wall between a better you and I.
So if you see me losing sight of all the death and life
Find the peace in every time I fail to see the death in mine
Let all the fear inside you drown
Tear out the blade that let you down
Save sorrow for the souls in doubt
Bleed every care out
All the blood is rushing out
I’m better off without
The walls are closing in
Sing for me again
I really like this song, but i an still confused as to what it means,so if anyone could help that would be great.
I don’t know if you guys (MTV) realize how good this band is, but you should really put their stuff out there even more! This song is wonderful proof of how versatile and creative demon hunter truly is. This song rox!!!

I can’t explain why, but the chorus chokes me up every time. Great song on an incredible album!!
Amazing video, amazing!!!

One of their best videos so far.
was the video taped in anacortes, washington? the bridge looks a lot like the one at deception [as and the islands look like the san juans.

All your albums in the past have been great but tis one is by far the very best. This is very inspiring for a lot of people, keep up the good work and always keep Christ first Loking forward to the albums in the future.
Great vid. ^^ I’ve been a total fan from the moment I read about this band in Brio Magazine. XD I usually can’t listen to much full out Christian worship music for long, so hidden messages within the lyrics are certainly a way I love to praise. Thanx so much to the band for putting it out there, and I hope they keep it coming.
i absolutely love this video, i’ve been a huge fan since the beggining and as cheeze as it sounds, this is my absolute favorite song in the album (the other ones are absolutely amazing too) but this one kicks me hard everytime. cant wait to see you guys live/another video.
God Bless you guys, keep rocking our faces off
Beautiful song and vid from my friends in DH!!! GREAT JOB! I have my tickets bought for the Stronger Than Hell Tour!!!

Cornerstone 2006 was the first time I had ever heard of Demon Hunter. I have not been able to get enough ever since that rainy midnight! You guys are an awesome band, and may God continue to bless you in all that you do!
Where did you guys film this? Wherever it was, it’s perfect.
[…] - Ein neues Kurzfilmchen gibt es auch von DEMON HUNTER. “Carry me down” kann man im Blog von MTVs “Headbanger`s Ball” sehen. […]
Honestly, I had never heard of you guys until tonight. I saw your video by chance on Mtv and was blown away. I really liked how the video was shot, in black and white…..I am going to check out more of your stuff.
Simply amazing like always- my favorite band forever!!!
I’ve been very anxious for this video. From the moment I first heard this song, it became my favorite…by Demon Hunter or anyone else. For the last few years, I’ve been very touched by the trememdous passion that these men have embraced as their minisrty. I thank God that they are able to reach so many people through such powerful means. I expected their very best as I watched this video and did not come away dissappointed. Thank you guys…
This video is amazing. So is Demon Hunter. This is one of my favorite songs off Storm the Gates of Hell and I was extremely happy to hear that they were doing a video for the song, and I think the video captures the mood perfectly.
Doesn’t get any better than this.
Freakin sweet!!!
I love this music video! It has an awesome story!! Well done guys
I love the video and the song is amazing this is by far the best video I have seen by demon hunter, keep up the good job guys.
dude! i cant believe thay recorded this, i live like 5 minutes down the road! this is all shot on whidby island, and i know where every one of these sceans were shot, dang i just cant believe that i missed them.
Holy friggin crap. . . that’s just amazing. I just had quite an experience tonight as God moved, and many songs from this album really just made it so much better. DH has always been a band I liked a lot. . . but Storm the Gates of Hell has catapulted them to one of my favorites. This album is beyond amazing.
My dad passed away a few months ago and when I heard this song…I thought it was meant for me. I know he would says those same things to me. He would tell me not to cry for him, but for those who are still here and lost. This was beautiful…I keep thinking I’ll never see him again, but deep down I know I will…Thank you.
awesome video as always , Guys you are great!
That is a real good song! Excellent video. as are most of them from Demon Hunter..
i am definately staying up all night until i find this video its going to be sick
dh4life
This is the band that helped inspire me to get saved, they were amazing those two years ago and they are still amazing today! This was an awesome video, everything I had imagined it would be. Job well done. Can’t wait for the Dallas show in June boys. Keep on rockin and spreading the good word. God bless!
Amazing. The power of the song, with the video, brings tears to my eyes. Truly touching.
I LOVE THIS SONG! When i first got your album i had this song on repeat for at lest a couple days, and now that there is a music video with it, that makes it x10 better. This video has a story behind it and it fits exactly with the lyrics to the song. Can’t wait to see more of you guys, and should try to see if you can do a show up in New England some time.
kick ass song and video the only thing is i wish there was some screaming parts like some of your other stuff but its sweet still its kind of like “Deteriorate”
Awesome video. I agree, it reminds me of Summer of Darkness.
Can’t wait for the concert in June!
Even though this is the most mellow song Demon Hunter has released, it has now quite possibly become my favorite song by them. This song has such emotion and power in it. “Save sorrow for the souls in doubt.” classic. Demon Hunter truly amazes me with every release, and I have been a faithful fan since their “This is Solis State” releases. Ryan has an amazing voice and conveys very powerful emotions. This is what a musician should be all about, Christian or not.
Wow! I love this song, and the video does it full justice! It’s an amazing story, and I love it.
Another Hit from DemonHunter keep it up guys Keep on track with God. God Bless you guys
This was an amazing video, it really captures your emotions. I think it’s really amazing that MTV would have this on their channel. With so many bands who may not now were their going or what their future holds, DH is a group of amazing christians that are really serving God in their own amazing way. The video is really awesome, it really reflects the verse that this song came from Isaiah 57:2 “The right-living people are out of their misery, they’re finally at rest.
They lived well and with dignity and now they’re finally at peace.” What an awesome message! God bless you guys. See you guys in Cincinnati.
Beautiful video guys. Thanks for sharing & I will see you all in KC.
I absolutely loved this video especially with the casket at the end. It’s very morbid… lovin it. Not to mention Ryan Clark has an amazing voice!
~Melody~
THATS CRAZY!!! This video was totally filmed in the small town that I grew up in, called Oak Harbor! The bridge shown for a couple seconds is called Deception Pass which leads right to my old town!
GREAT video guys! Awesome song, if i die anytime soon you should come play it at my funeral lol. You guys are amazing, i cant WAIT to see you at Rocketown…..and maybe in Atl the next night, hopefully.
Wow…. Tottaly amazingly freaking wicked awesome spactaculer video… :p

Thank you for this video, for your songs, for your faith, and not being ashamed. Ever person needs it! I have been blessed to hear the songs you have written/ performed and I know how many will find Christ through your music! God bless you and your families! This video is very inspiring!
demon hunter is probly my favorite metal band , but ive always found their videos to be somewhat cheesy. ill always support them though and hope the best for them
that video rocks i wish this computer had sound so i could hear the song
Excellent. Knowing this song’s meaning and lyrics through and through, the video very much makes itelf clear in the end. After a month straight of listening to nothing but ‘Storm The Gates Of Hell’ this is a perfect icing. Never forget…SHED REJECTION, LEARN TO FOLLOW THE WOLVES!
one of my favorite songs, and the music vidio is awesome…
I adore your new album! The whole CD is awesome and I listen to it everyday! The song Carry Me Down impacted me a lot because the lyrics are so touching and sweet… The song reminds me of God somehow… I dunno why, it just does. The video is very well made and the black/white thing made it more melancholic. Keep going at it, guys! You’re doing an excellent job! Demon Hunter rules!! XD
It reminded me a lot of the cover for Summer of Darkness. Good video. Love the new album.
The drummeer WAS in the video!!! YOGI!! You lost so much weight noone recognizes you anymore!
That was awesome….that serious look on the angels meant only one thing, I think…they were on their way to STORM THE GATES OF HELL!!!! One more thing, I am Hispanic, and that was the MOST awesome ride to go to heaven in!!!63 Impala! I hope the angels pick me up in a ‘64 Impala!GLORY TO GOD!!!
Awesome as always. Demon Hunter is a favorite of mine, no one can deny how much god has blessed them, reguardless your beliefs they are a great band.
That was awesome….that serious look on the angels meant only one thing, I think…they were on their way to STORM THE GATES OF HELL!!!!

*Reply to Matt* Yes, the drummer was in the video. *End reply*
I’m going to have this song played at my funeral. Beautiful lyrics and a power video. A big thanks and God Bless to the boys for finally making a video out of one of my favorite songs by y’all.
ehhh i dont know carry me down is too soft for me… this album is the lightest of them all. lol couldnt help but notice the drummer wasnt in the video. its ok i guess. i like the album. i just wish it were al little heavier throughout.
this band has just gotten better and better the new disc has been amazing please come tour up in mass
This video is awesome, it reminds me of past Disciple videos. Whether there was performance or not, it still contains an original and thought out illustrated concept. Great job guys!
This video is absolutely amazing. I am so stoked about it. Demon Hunter never fails to amaze me.
What an awesome song AND video. I can’t wait to see them in June!
I love this band, and this video…
this is DH’s best video yet! =]
this totally matched the emotion of the song [which is also great, by the way]. i think they’re really progressing as a band.
These guys are such a creative force. Their band rocks. Their videos rocks. Their designs at Invisible Creature rock. They personify everything that is good and metal in this world. Keep rockin brothers!

Yeah…after reading the blog that Jonathan wrote, it made it very sad…but oh so amazing.
The video was quite amazing, just like the song
This is the song that got me into Demon Hunter. I’ve been waiting for this video from the day that they announced it, and I’m so excited that it’s here now.
Unfortunately, it’s not loading at the moment. Some sort of error.
Love the vid. The black and white really goes with it. I award it 10 stars!
DEMO HUNTER ROCKS!!!! They filmed this at Deception pass in WA, great choice. GREAT VIDEO, GREAT BAND, GREAT SONG, again, DEMON HUNTER ROCKS!!!!!!!!!
What a great video. I love the narrative aspect to it. And the tone of it definitely reminds of Summer of Darkness. I’m glad they picked this song for a video.
I thought the new Demon Hunter vid Carry Me Down was a really good vid and an awsome song for not being such a metal band but good hard rock song from the album Storm The Gates of Hell.
wow, this has to be one of the most awesome music videos i have ever seen. everything about it goes along with this song perfectly. DH is the only band i know that can make a song like this as well as Follow the Wolves. you guys are amazing!
as always great video, i love this new album so so much.
So, i’m totally going to make arrangements to have this played at my funeral. I love demon hunter so much. their music has lifted me up when i was at my lowest. i’m counting down the days until June 27, when i see them in atlanta!
awesome video, goes very well with the song
slow or hard jam, dont matter, DH is always rocking
Well, it made me cry, which is very good in DH’s case. This video is exactly what I would have hoped for for this song.
And Jonathan, I just thought you should know that I didn’t know Aaron, but by reading your blog on TBR, it was hard for me to watch the video.
Amazing video.
Sarah, TBR Hunter

Demon Hunter is my favorite band. They always have good videos.
I love Demon Hunter. Their new album is their darkest, and probably best, album of all. I wish them luck with future albums and I’ll always support their beliefs.
Amazing video guys. I think it goes along perfect with the song and actually tells a story unlike most music videos you see on TV these days. Carry Me Down is one of my favorite songs and now the video has become one of my favorites as well. Despite the sad overtone of the song it still brings hope in the end, great balance. Cant wait to see yall play it live June 26th in Nashville.
This is one of my favorite songs on the new album….Great video. Awesome as always.
kinda looks like they copied the look from Blindside’s “The Great Depression” album
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/519CXT58STL._AA240_.jpg
oh well. the vid is still sick
Amazing!
Great video, Demon Hunter. I’ve been with you since day one and you just keep getting better.
Demon Hunter is one of the best bands that i have ever had the pleasure of hearing! They are 100% Real in every way, shape, and form! Much Love & Respect!! Excellent Video, Excellent Song, Excellent Album!!
The song is great and so is the veido…keep up the great work…Love ya guys…
great song… powerful video… kinda goes along with the “undying” video. in that one the coffin was opened and it was empty… symbolizing jesus’ resurrection. in this its was almost like the rest of the band were the angels that moved the stone away from the tomb for jesus to get out… awesome
absolutely love this video. demon hunter is amazing.
*10 points big gold star*
Excellent video for a great song. Demon Hunter ROCKS!!
I definitely love the black and white…works well with this video….I also love how demon hunter is so good at playing both hardcore metal and ballads….truly a unique band…
