One of the godfathers of black metal’s image and content (if not necessarily the sound), King Diamond chose Dimmu Borgir’s “The Serpentine Offering” as his Bang of the Week. Makes sense to us. Diamond’s music is theatrical, epic and rooted in darkness. The same can certainly be said for Dimmu Borgir. Now, if only the King would use more blast beats and Dimmu singer, Shagrath, would wail in a multi-octave falsetto then we’d really be styling. Oh, well. There ain’t nothing wrong with dreaming. Now here’s Diamond:

“I love this song, he says. “Regarding the music: There’s great use of the keyboards to create tension; a beautiful middle section with great vocal harmonies; lots of very interesting guitar riffs. Everyone performs top-notch. This song is intense. It has no dull moments.

“Regarding the visuals: Also, here I think it’s top-notch. It creates an intense mood, and has great interaction between band shots and movie shots. I love the makeup and the outfits, and that’s one mean looking evil organ.”

For an even scarier looking organ, check out the Gene Simmons sex tape…

Now, here’s Dimmu:

  1. Well, I have never been a fan of Dimmu, but if almighty King has kind words to say about them, I’ll try not to bash them anymore.
    KING IS LORD

  2. Dimmu makes great videos, even better than KD, the guitar and keyboards are also pretty decent.
But Kings vocals are unmatched, Shagrath doesn’t even come close in that arena.

  3. I’m glad the King digs Dimmu Borgir. When I was introduce to Dimmu about 10 Years ago, man I was flattered and blown away. I’m still am, until the day I die or even if start going to chuch for the dude upstairs(which probably not soon after I look at society.
