We like some extreme s–t around here, but we’re also realists. As stoked as we are to run interviews with Deicide, Nile and Dillinger Escape Plan, we’re fully aware that our parent company has certain guidelines it must adhere to, especially when it comes to the videos that go on Headbangers Ball on MTV2.
So, while we’re all about subversion from within, we sometimes have to play by the rules. And that means we probably can’t get away with airing Belphegor’s new video for “Bondage Goat Zombie” on TV — especially since their 2006 clip for “Bluhtstorm Erotika” didn’t pass inspection due to its explicit content (ie nudity), and, sadly, didn’t make it to the Ball. In protest, the band didn’t even bother submitting its latest celluloid atrocity, but that doesn’t mean we can’t screen it here for all you sick puppies right here on the Blog (click “more” to watch the new vid).
The song is the title track of the Austrian black metal band’s seventh full album, which comes out April 15, and features such uplifting fare as “Sex Dictator Lucifer,” “Shred For Sathan” and “Justine Soaked in Blood.” Some of the cuts were influenced by the writings of the Marquis de Sade, which might explain why they hurt so good (oh, crap, now we’ve got that crap John Mellencamp song going through our skulls).
Belphegor frontman Helmuth describes the video for “Bondage Goat Zombie” as “a four-minute sound wall of total destruction and melodic riff explosions. The hymns all relate to the Belphegor trademarks such as Satanism and the devils pact. Veneratio Diaboli - Die Toten reiten schnell (The dead ride fast).”
He adds that the new song features some of his most aggressive vocals to date and that “Belphegor will continue to keep the f—ing devil and demonic spirit in metal music alive, unleash more energy, and give the die-hard brothers and sisters ultimate hell.”
