Hmm, maybe that one was too easy. A bunch of you figured out the logo belongs to Denouncement Pyre, a black/death metal band from Melbourne Australia. The evil seed for the group was planted in 2003 when frontman Decaylust and drummer J. Eradicator formed the band Eradicator. The drummer moved over to guitar later in the year when Chris Volcano took over the skins, and the band christened itself Denouncement Pyre.
In April 2004, Denouncement Pyre recorded its demo “The Storm to End all Wars,” which was self-released. Bassist Blaspherion joined later in the year and the band booked its first local shows. In April 2005 Denouncement Pyre entered the studio to track their first professional recording, the seven-inch “Under the Aegis of Damnation.”
The live demo “Barbaric Vengeance” followed, and after Apocalyptor Records released “…Aegis of Damnation” in May 2006, Denouncement Pyre signed with Wisdom Productions for the mini-album Hell’s Infantry, which was recorded in April and came out in August.
By early 2007, Blaspherion had quit and was replaced by R FuneralBitch. Then, in March, Volcano left, and a few months later, Eradicator bailed to pursue other interests. But Decaylust held Denouncement Pyre together and by year’s end, Preacher of Doom was hired on drums, allowing the band to continue as a three-piece.
At the top of 2008, Denouncement Pyre released the Chaos Rising Split LP, then they descended into the Incubator Death Chambers to record the “Circle of Black Flame” seven-inch. Currently, Denouncement Pyre are working on their debut full-length album, which is tentatively titled World Cremation. Clearly, Hell awaits.
