Either this week's logo isn't really that indecipherable or this German band -- which is currently touring the U.S. with Mucopus, Sexcrement and Corpremesis -- has a larger fanbase than we thought. Yeah, as a number of you guessed, the band is Defeated Sanity.

The extreme death metal outfit was formed by guitarist Wolfgang Teske and drummer Lille Gruber in 1994. By 1996 bassist Jonas Gruber and singer Robert Colnik were onboard and the band started playing shows. Defeated Sanity recorded the demos Devoured by the Black (1996) and Withdrawn From Beauty (1998) before Jonas Gruber left and was replaced by bassist Tino Köhler. Guitarist Christian Münzner was added to the lineup and Defeated Sanity continued to grind skulls to sawdust for a couple more years locally before being picked up by Czech label Grodhaisn Productions, which released a split CD of Defeated Sanity and Poppy Seed Grinder in 2001. The same year, the band recorded "Collapsing Human Falures" for a split seven-inch with Imperious Malevolence. The recording would be the last to feature Münzner before he joined technical deathmasters Necrophagist.
In late 2004, Defeated Sanity released their debut full-length Prelude to the Tragedy, which featured singer Markus Keller, who quit a year later. Their follow-up disc, Psalms of the Moribund, came out in 2007. Currently, Defeated Sanity features singer Jens 'Cannibaloki' Staschel, Teske and bassist Jacob Schmidt. Lille Gruber has been filling in for the band's North American tour.
