They're clearly not as big as Machine Head or Children of Bodom, but Kataklysm have a loyal and vocal fanbase. On Monday, shortly after we announced the start of this week's "Your Vote Counts" contest -- in which viewer's vote for one artist from last week's "Headbangers Ball" to return on next week's program -- Kataklysm's Web site posted the message "Headbangers Blog Wants to Hear From You!"
Within minutes, the Canadian band's fans were flooding the Blog to vote for the group's new video "Taking the World by Storm." Since none of the other acts in contention lured their followers to compete, Kataklysm won by a landslide. And some of the band's fans had some pretty valid comments about why Kataklysm should win.
"To me, Kataklysm is the only band who can have all the hardcore breakdowns they want and yet still sound amazing," wrote Andrew. "And this is coming from a [guy] who hates hardcore breakdowns. Two thumbs up for them and I’m more than glad I will be seeing them with Vader and Aborted this month."
"I just heard these guys for the first time a couple weeks ago and cant believe how bad Ive dropped the ball on this one," said Scott Thomas. "These guys are nasty and need to come back."
"They mix professionalism with brutality," wrote Raluca Maran. "They are undoubtedly the best Canadian band of the moment and among the very best of death metal worldwide."
"Me gusta mucho kataklyms espero que vengan a colombia y sobre todo a medellin, es una de mis bandas favoritas sobretodo por el recorrido que tienen y por que de verdad tocan muy bien y no dejan que la escena del metal se acabe con energia y metal hasta la muerte," added Luferheell.
