On Saturday, we’ll premiere the new Straight Line Stitch video for “Black Veil” on “Headbangers Ball.” You can see its online debut below, but first read singer Alexis Brown’s description of the shoot, which was directed by Dale Resteghini on May 13.

Initially, I think we all went into this shoot a bit more nervous than our previous video shoot for “Remission” because with the “Black Veil” shoot there was an actual treatment. After reading the treatment, and realizing I might have to do some “acting” I got really uneasy. The treatment definitely follows the plot of the song. I wrote “Black Veil” a long time ago about struggling with my inner demons and somehow finding the strength and courage to face them, and I think the visuals in the video really portray those feelings. When we made it to set, there was already a full crew working their butts off, prepping sets and lighting. I had a blast watching my guys get dolled up (which is something they hate to do), plus it was fun to watch Pat do his little dances and then break strings on his guitar… nonetheless he carried on like a champ.

I had to do a couple scenes myself where I was busting loose from this crazy looking metal chair. Every time the crew strapped me in, they would pinch my skin, which sucked, but it looks great on film. By the time I was done with that chair, I was so bruised.

Working with Dale (who is also our manager) was fun and nerve racking at the same time because he is known for his perfectionism and his temper (people don’t call him “RAGE” for nothing). But he is very good at what he does and that’s why he is a top video director; we have nothing but respect for him. All in all, I think we made an awesome video. the energy was amazing, and we had a lot of fun.
