Call Guy Kozowyk confrontational, he'll just smile. Call his band deathcore and he'll likely laugh and spit. The Red Chord frontman may have been one of the people to pioneer deathcore and his label Black Market Activities has signed deathcore acts like Animosity, but that doesn't mean the irascible singer is down with the cause. "I just want to publicly apologize to the world for having any part in influencing any [deathcore] garbage," he recently told Revolver magazine. Call them deathcore and you might just get a guitar headstock to the jaw. But even if you were to call them something ridiculous like emo or hair metal (neither of which remotely apply), Carnifex would still rip just as hard. The music on their second album, The Diseased and the Poisoned, is like a revving chainsaw to the sternum -- a messy, blast of pain that triggers a blinding explosion in the brain. And their video for "Answers is Mourning" just might give you an aneurysm (MTV, nor the band are accountable for any injury sustained during listening to the song or viewing the video). So, if you're up for the challenge, click "more" to listen to what Scott Lewis has to say about the clip, then check out the video. Read more...

The Your Vote Counts totals are in and Lamb of God's "Walk With me in Hell" video won by an overwhelming margin, earning a return slot on this Saturday's "Headbangers Ball."

"Sorry BFMV. I'm voting for Lamb of God," wrote SomeWeirdGuy. "Been a huge fan since their Sacrament album came out."

We've been fans since 19989, when they were called Burn the Priest, but better to arrive late to the party than stay home and watch "Star Trek" reruns. In honor of the band's triumphant victory, we present a Lamb of God victory party. Click "more" and start the fiesta. Read more...

The colorful characters of Gorgeous Frankenstein -- guitarist Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein (Misfits), his wife, WCW wrestler Gorgeous George, singer Argyle Goolsby and drummer Doctor Chud (Misfits) -- are more suited for lavish Halloween parties or air conditioned strip clubs than sweaty mid-summer club dates, but that's not stopping them from piling into the van and motoring around the country to support their self-titled debut full-length.

Recently, Doyle's ex-bandmate and label boss, Glenn Danzig, hooked the band up with a video team and the group shot a clip for their stomping titular signature song. "It was a blast working with Doyle on his first solo recording Gorgeous Frankenstein, Danzig told HeadbangersBlog.com. "We've always had a great working chemistry since the Misfits, and on this CD people are gonna realize that Doyle can "shred" on guitar. He deserves to be out in his own band after all these years and have an identity of his own outside of the Misfits." Click "more" to read more from Danzig and watch the "Gorgeous Frankenstein" video. Testament drink to continued success

The Bay Area thrashers of Testament will remain on the Metal Masters tour with Judas Priest, Heaven and Hell and Motorhead through August 31 in Mountain View, California. But if you missed 'em on the tour because you couldn't get to the venue by 8:30 a.m. (or whatever the hell time they took the stage) don't worry. Testament will be back in the States in early October (according to Pollstar, the October 9 show in New York City is with Children of Bodom).

MetalInjection.net recently hooked up with guitarists Eric Peterson and Alex Skolnick about touring, the band's new album The Formation of Damnation and the time the band met the Iraqi heavy metal band Acrassicauda. Click "more" to see it all. Read more...

VH1 caught up with Heaven and Hell to talk to the band about the Metal Masters tour and the recent box set, Black Sabbath The Rules of Hell, a collection of all of the albums singer Ronnie James Dio recorded with Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi and bassist Geezer Butler. Here's part one of three, in which the band members discusses their set list for Metal Masters and how, like a good wine, they've only improved with age. Read more...
