We've got the exclusive premiere of Hatebreed's new video for "Live For This" from the band's upcoming live DVD "Live Dominance," which comes out September 2. The clip will debut on "Headbangers Ball" on Saturday and each week for the next month we'll post additional videos from the DVD. Now, live through frontman Jamey Jasta's comments about the video -- or just click more to watch the thing:
"Live For This" has been one of our set closer's since the day Rise Of Brutality came out. It's a great song for us to perform because its not your typical Hatebreed song. When we wrote it we wanted it to be an anthem, a song everyone could sing, not just metal-heads or hardcore kids but anyone who's ever done something in their life that they put 110 percent of themselves into. We wanted it to be a song we could play for forever, and the words still mean the same now as they did then, which is a beautiful thing.
Months, after the song was released, Major League Baseball made "Live For This" their "motto" or "slogan" and we hoped that they would use the song (since we're all big baseball fans) but they never did. Maybe someone from MLB will read this and help us out! (haha)
Even though we are a crossover band (hardcore crossed with metal), we've always had a metal influence in our sound but "Live For This" was a track we felt was the real hardcore anthem on the album. Lyrically, it sums up why we make music and have sacrificed everything to do what we do. Keep in mind this was written back in late 2002/early 2003 when a lot of bands started to become heavily influenced by bands like Iron Maiden and At The Gates so we wanted to stay on track with our sound and message and not let the current trends affect us. (Not that there's anything wrong with either of those bands) we just wanted a more Cro-Mags/Leeway/NYHC kind of feel on that song. Our late manager, Steve Richards, loved the song and we were nominated for a Grammy for Best Metal Performance for the track, so needless to say it’s a very special track for us.
Our first ever live DVD would not be complete without "Live For This"
