Here's the HeadbangersBlog.com online premiere of Hatebreed's "Destroy Everything," from the band's upcoming DVD "Live Dominance," which comes out September 2. Catch the television debut on Saturday's "Headbangers Ball." Click "more" for frontman Jamey Jasta's description of the song, then watch it yourself:
This song was written ages ago, even before Rise Of Brutality. Before the track was even finished, we had shirts with huge guns on them that just said "Destroy Everything" in huge letters. For a long time it was our most popular shirt. We wanted to release the track earlier but it underwent a lot of changes before it made it on Supremacy Over the past two years it's become a staple of our live set; it seems like everyone yells "Destroy Everything" between songs.
It's always a good feeling when you put out a new album and people really identify with the new tunes. Having seen so much death, addiction and depressing stuff during the time before and during the making of Supremacy I really felt that the theme of a "new beginning" or a "rebirth" really belonged on the record and the song became a simplistic expression of wanting a new start and not letting anything stand in the way of that.
Now that you know what the tune's about, enjoy:
In addition to premiering songs from the new DVD, Hatebreed are offering free MP3s of four of the tracks. Between now and August 25 fans can head over to their MySpace and download the audio for "Destroy Everything," "This is Now," "I Will be Heard" and "Live for This."
This is one of the few HATEBREED songs that has a pretty straight forward groove all the way through so its fun to play live and watch everyone go berserk. Beattie's bass line really hits hard and locks in with Matt's groove. It pounds every time we play it. I remember playing the Main stage of Ozzfest right after Supremacy came out and to hear crowd screaming the words so loud gave me chills down my spine!
