We were totally joking when we posted early today that Slipknot fans demanded a recount after Soundscan ranked The Game above Slipknot by a mere 13 units for the number one position on this week's album chart.
However, Roadrunner Records and WEA took the recount situation seriously and, after petitioning SoundScan, the company acquiesced. In the end Slipknot came on top, beating The Game by a full 1,134 albums; Slipknot totaled 239,516 albums sold in their first week and The Game tallied 238,382. The battle was the closest ever in SoundScan history and it marked Slipknot's first #1 album. Who says all hope is gone?
