On January 5, MetalSucks.net posted an MP3 they found of Mastodon performing their new song “Divinations.” At first, the track sounded like something a music journalist had bootlegged on a digital recorder when he was listening to the band’s new album Crack the Skye in a Warner Bros. Records conference room. On closer listen, however, it became clear that the recording was made during the band’s performance at the Bonnaroo festival last year.
A couple hours later, the point became mute when the track was replaced with an English voice repeating, “Metal Sucks is run by c–ts.” The dudes at Metal Sucks must have felt like Bob Guccione, Jr. when Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose s–t talked him in the song “Get in the Ring.” Congratulations, guys. You’ve arrived.
