Let us know what you think of the new Disturbed video for "The Night." The clip was directed by Noble Jones (3 Doors Down), who aimed to capture the cinematic starkness and eerieness of sci-fi flicks like "Alien" and "The Thing." Click "more" to watch the vid. Read more...

Just two days before launching a tour with Lamb of God, As I Lay Dying, Children of Bodom and Municipal Waste, God Forbid have announced that guitarist Dallas Coyle has quit the band. In a statement, his brother, guitarist Doc Coyle, said there was a "mutual disagreement" that "became angry on both sides, and [Dallas] decided to sit out the tour the day we were supposed to leave."

His ex-bandmates assumed the rift would be temporary, then, according to Doc, they "learned later he did not want to tour anymore at all." Over four years in the making, the self-titled debut album by Seventh Void will descend like a heavy fog on April 21 on Vinnie Paul's label Big Vin Records. The band was formed in 2005 by Type O Negative guitarist Kenny Hickey and drummer Johnny Kelly, and also features ex-Supermassiv guitarist Matt Brown and Inhuman bassist Hank Hell. Like Type O, Seventh Void play sludgy doom metal in the tradition of Black Sabbath, but while Type O are largely influenced by goth, The Void have more of a stoner rock vibe.

You say your mounted double-edged battle axe fell off the wall last week and landed on your laptop, leaving you without digital communication for several days? Drag man, but don't worry. You can catch up on everything you missed on last week's Blog right here.

Our exclusive podcast was with Heaven and Hell (a.k.a. Black Sabbath with Ronnie James Dio). Unfortunately, we were unable to reach guitarist Tony Iommi since the old geezer was hanging out in England when his bandmates were in New York, but we did hook up with bassist Geezer Butler and vocalist Ronnie James Die who told us all about their new album The Devil You Know. Our prayers have been answered. Christian metalcore band War of Ages have released a new video for the song "All Consuming Fire. The Erie, Pennsylvania group shot the clip on February 7 in their home town at Forward Hall.

"We are truly stoked on the all consuming fire video!," vocalist Leroy Hamp told HeadbangersBlog.com. "This was a great opportunity for us to give something back to our fans. They came out strong last month and we could not be happier with how it turned out. We feel like it shows the energy of a War Of Ages show." Click "more" to see what Hamp is talking about. Cannibal Corpse bassist and songwriter Alex Webster has obviously heard tons of comparisons between his band and other death metal acts, including ex-vocalist Chris Barnes' group Six Feet Under and vocalist George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher's former band Monstrosity. He has probably also taken part in at least a few heated conversations about which musicians are better than other musicians. In his first guest entry for HeadbangersBlog.com, Webster addresses why metal fans feel inclined to rank their favorites and why he has determined that such discussions are completely irrelevant.

As long as I've been a fan of music, I've always heard arguments about which band is the best, which musician is the best and so on. When I was young, these arguments would be among friends or maybe presented in a magazine by a writer, and of course now you can find them all over the internet. It's pretty hard not to run into a "who's the best" type argument on any music website that has a forum or allows comments. Read more...

They returned from the grave in 2007 to write and record three new songs for the greatest hits album Black Sabbath the Dio Years. They had such a good time working together again for the first time in 12 years that they scheduled a gig at New York's Radio City Music Hall, which was filmed for the CD and DVD "Live From Radio City Music Hall." Then Heaven and Hell started touring and wound up co-headling the Metal Masters with Judas Priest.

During that whole cycle, they played their three new songs, but relied more heavily on their three previously released studio albums, Heaven and Hell (1980), Mob Rules (1981) and Dehumanizer(1992) -- to the chagrin of no one. After all, these were classic albums which have had substantial influence and impact upon the metal community. But if Heaven and Hell were to continue to grow, everyone knew they'd need to do a new album. As a child, one of our favorite children's rhymes went, "Lizzy Borden with an axe, gave her father 40 whacks/ When she saw what she had done she gave her mother 41." From the start, it was clear that metal lay in our future.

Here's another bunch of dudes who were destined to bang heads and they're not so coincidentally named Lizzy Borden. The band has been around since 1984 and still perform a captivating blend of metal, hard rock and dramatic theater heavily influenced by Alice Cooper. Their newest video, "Under Your Skin," is a powerful clip about teenage cutting that leaves scars. Click "more" to read Lizzy's comments and watch the vid, which will debut on-air Saturday night on a special episode "Headbangers Ball," which airs from 10 p.m. to midnight on MTV2. Read more...
