In 1993 my band Prong released a record called Cleansing. It featured a song called "Snap Your Fingers ,Snap Your Neck". Who knew that 16 years later I would still be breaking my back doing Prong, and busting my ass, literally, on a weird diet called the "Master Cleanse." Read more...

Here's a video you won't be seeing this week on "Headbangers Ball," or any other week for that matter. The band is Wretched and their label, Victory, calls their video for "A Preservation of Immortality," "The Bloodiest Music Video Ever." Clearly, they're biased, but we have to admit Wretched's clip is pretty horrifying, and not in that it's-so-wretched-it-makes-me-shiver kind of way. The video is about a dude who runs over a little girl, and instead of being irresponsible and reporting his crime, he does the sensible thing. He cleans off his car and buries her body. Of corpse (typo intended), no good deed goes unpunished and the poor dude gets attacked by vines in a bloodbath of a scene that "Evil Dead" director Sam Raimi should probably contact his lawyers about. We first heard Abattoir on the 1983 compilation album Metal Massacre IV, which also featured Trouble, Lizzy Borden and Zoetrope. So much did we like the band's screechy song "Screams From the Grave," that we scurried out to purchase the band's 1985 debut Vicious Attack when it came out. Sadly, the band's two follow-ups kind of blew, and in the late '80s Abattoir herded themselves to the slaughter house. So, imagine our surprise when we discovered the band recently reunited to play the Keep it True Festival XII in Germany on April 24. We certainly hope there's more to come. Click "more" to watch Abbatoir perform "The Only Safe Place/Bring on the Damned" and "Game of Death." at the show.

While "Headbangers Ball" were on the West Coast the week of the Epiphone Revolver Golden Gods Awards we hooked up with Lamb of God in Las Vegas for a good ol' southern style barbecue. The band, which is infamous for cookin' up some mighty tasty meats backstage at festivals like Ozzfest and Sounds of the Underground, were happy to fire up the grill and cook us some mean-ass lamb chops.
