Here's the new video from As I Lay Dying, "I Never Wanted."

"We've talked about doing a video for I Never Wanted for quite some time now," says guitarist Phil Sgrosso. "Most videos that we've done have been for more fast and aggressive songs that have the usual AILD sound to it but we wanted to mix things up and have a slower (but still heavy!) video that would be made up of footage from our new DVD, 'This Is Who We Are.'" Just two days before launching a tour with Lamb of God, As I Lay Dying, Children of Bodom and Municipal Waste, God Forbid have announced that guitarist Dallas Coyle has quit the band. In a statement, his brother, guitarist Doc Coyle, said there was a "mutual disagreement" that "became angry on both sides, and [Dallas] decided to sit out the tour the day we were supposed to leave."

His ex-bandmates assumed the rift would be temporary, then, according to Doc, they "learned later he did not want to tour anymore at all." You say your mounted double-edged battle axe fell off the wall last week and landed on your laptop, leaving you without digital communication for several days? Drag man, but don't worry. You can catch up on everything you missed on last week's Blog right here.

Our exclusive podcast was with Heaven and Hell (a.k.a. Black Sabbath with Ronnie James Dio). Unfortunately, we were unable to reach guitarist Tony Iommi since the old geezer was hanging out in England when his bandmates were in New York, but we did hook up with bassist Geezer Butler and vocalist Ronnie James Die who told us all about their new album The Devil You Know. Our prayers have been answered. Christian metalcore band War of Ages have released a new video for the song "All Consuming Fire. The Erie, Pennsylvania group shot the clip on February 7 in their home town at Forward Hall.

"We are truly stoked on the all consuming fire video!," vocalist Leroy Hamp told HeadbangersBlog.com. "This was a great opportunity for us to give something back to our fans. They came out strong last month and we could not be happier with how it turned out. We feel like it shows the energy of a War Of Ages show." Click "more" to see what Hamp is talking about. It looks to us like the guys in As I Lay Dying are fans of the syndicated sci-fi/horror series "Millennium." The title of band's first ever DVD set, "This is Who We Are," is the slogan of the show and lasts almost as long as all of the "Millennium" episodes back-to-back.

Consisting of three DVDs, "This is Who We Are" documents the seven-year careeer (so far) of As I Lay Dying and is packed with live performances, videos, behind-the-scenes clips and a complete history of the band. The package was produced and directed by Denise Korycki, who also tackled Cannibal Corpse's excellent "Centuries of Torment."

Who woulda thought Gwar bassist Beefcake the Mighty would be able to remove his spiked anvil helmet enough to slip some iPod earbuds into his space alien orifices let alone take our Random Shuffle test seriously enough to include some of his actual iPod listening material on his list.

It's pretty awesome that the beast has a Dethklok track on there, given that his band and theirs share certain cartoonish elements. We're also impressed by the inclusion of Lard, Carcass and The Clash. But if Beefcake has a sense of humor, what is he doing listening to Dane Cook? On a scale of one to 100, we give Beefcake the Mighty's list an 82 for listenability. Click more to see Beef's full 20-song random sampler and watch a video from one of the bands on his list. When we first clicked onto the link for UVTV's best live videos of 2008 we weren't too impressed. The 35-minute-long video stream started off with Lynam, an Aerosmith-inspired band we've never heard of and never care to hear from again. Next came a video of a trudging, screamy group called Caustic that have hair styles, tattoos and attitude, but couldn't write a decent riff if they had guns to their heads. Then came the sea of mediocrity of Sea of Treachery, which destroy any chance of listenability with drums that drown out everything but the routine vocal metalcore roar. We were about to give up and move on, but we're glad we didn't because the last two-thirds of the video stream feature track after track of spine-grating goodness.

The redemption begins with A Life Once Lost's "Firewater Joyride," and proceeds through a firestorm of quality noise that includes, Genghis Tron's jittery "Things Don't Look Good," Evergreen Terrace's rockin' "Wolfbiker" and Dillinger Escape Plan's "Fix Your Face," which could teach Caustic the meaning of their band name. The stream finishes up with Origin's visceral "Staring From the Abyss" and Dying Fetus' pulverizing "Schematics." There's also Thy Will Be Done's "In the Name Of" sandwiched in there, but you might wanna skip that; we've heard better MySpace deathcore at high school talent shows. When the goal is building perfect and deadliest mousetrap, time and money are of no concern. Neither, apparently, is a fatal illness and a willing suspension of disbelief. And if you need a dirty cop to help you out in the execution of your plan, that, too, is easier done than said. It's all part of the very unreal, but nonetheless thrilling world of the "Saw" movies, and even though the producers are crankin' out at least one a year and are already up to "Saw V" (Lionsgate), there seems to be no shortage of ideas for slicing, crushing, beheading and incinerating hapless victims. Under most circumstances, if you walk up to an artist and tell him that his self-portrait is hideous, you're likely to get a black eye. But tell Slipknot percussionist and photographer Shawn Crahan that his picture "Self" is ugly and he'll smile and thank you from the bottom of his heart.

For Crahan, art doesn't simply exist to mirror beauty. He'd rather evoke sensations of dread and awareness of death through images that are sometimes difficult to look at, but impossible to ignore. With his latest picture for "The Eye of a Clown" he's exhumed the torment from his soul and splashed it across the screen for everyone to marvel at. And in doing so, he has once again transformed something disgusting into something strangely appealing. Click "more" to check out "Self" and read Crahan's comments. Read more...
