Producer Dave Fortman (Mudvayne, Evanescence, Slipknot) began mixing the new Anthrax album, Worship Music, late last week in a New Orleans studio. The album, now set for a Fall release, is the band's first studio effort in six years and marks the recording debut of new lead vocalist Dan Nelson.

Commented Fortman, "In 1986, I saw two shows at Jed's in New Orleans that changed my life, one of those was Anthrax. Not long after, I packed up and headed out to make a career in music. Twenty-three years later, it's an absolute pleasure and an honor to work with these guys. They are and always have been one of the great forces in metal." Read more...

They might have looked like high school kids waiting for their prom dates when they showed up at the Epiphone Revolver Golden Gods Awards dressed in tuxedos, but the second the members of Suicide Silence took the stage, they proved that they're more than the deathcore trend of the month -- far more. Vocalist Mitch Lucker is a frightening, captivating frontman, and while his bandmates do their share of entertaining flailing and headbanging, it's Lucker who almost single-handedly stole the show from all the other Golden Gods performers. See for yourself when Suicide Silence appears on the exclusive 60-minute telecast of the awards show Saturday night at midnight on MTV2, which will be followed by an hour long wrap-up hosted by XM Radio DJ Jose Mangin, which features performance outtakes and band interviews.

Lucker will also take part in a special edition of MTV2's "Headbangers Ball" tonight at midnight.
The show will be co-hosted by Suicide Silence and Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor, who deejayed right before the Golden Gods. Click "more" to watch our Golden Gods interview clips with Suicide Silence. Read more...

Following a week long hiatus, the Clown is back. Slipknot percussionist and artist Shawn Crahan has dusted off his picture boxes and combed through his gnarled memory to bring us some of his most striking images to date. We begin this week with "After the Show," a shot of a girl with a cigarette that's aglow with color and life. What blows us away isn't her bright blue hair, it's that rough, weatherbeaten hand with chipped black nail polish that makes us wonder if she's been working in a machine shop -- or worse. Click "more" to see the pic and read Clown's comments. Read more...

For this week only, "Headbangers Ball" is like "Seinfeld." It's airing every single night. And each night it will be hosted by a different band that performed at the Epiphone Revolver Golden Gods. Not so coincidentally, the 60 minute long telecast for the show debuts on Saturday night at 11 p.m. We hope you caught last night's "Headbangers Ball" episode hosted by Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine. Don't miss tonight's special featuring music and interview footage with Killswitch Engage. Tomorrow's show will be manned by Hatebreed, Thursday's episode will be spearheaded by All That Remains and on Friday the show will be split between Suicide Silence and Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor, who DJed the pre-show festivities. In a surprise upset, Kenosha, Wisconsin quartet Lazarus A.D. have topped Bring me the Horizon and Slipknot to win this week's "Your Vote Counts" and return to the next episode of "Headbangers Ball," which airs Saturday at 2 a.m. on MTV2. The band's video "Thou Shall Not Fear" was shot in Milwaukee at the haunted venue Eagle’s Ballroom and was directed by Jason Meudt and Emmet Austin.

"Slipknot has a super-sweet-ass video, but everybody and their mother knows that name so they don't need more air time," wrote Mrsaucytrousers. "My vote is for Lazarus A.D. The people need thrash and they can give it to them."

"That off-beat cymbal in the begining? Chillingly beautiful. Not to mention the solo," added Engage What Remains.
