At the Epiphone Revolver Golden Gods awards last week, deathcore superstars in training Suicide Silence performed the new song "Wake Up," from their upcoming Machine-produced album. Now, the band has decided to stream another track, "Lifted." The tune features more nuances and dynamics than most of the songs on the band's debut "The Cleansing," but it's still bloodier than a slaughter house drain, featuring a choking assortment of blast beats, pig squeals and guitar histrionics. Click more for a preview of the carnage. And get ready for a podcast interview with the band from the Epiphone Revolver Golden Gods coming Friday.

Offbeat stoner/hardcore metal band Big Business are now streaming their entire upcoming album, Mind the Drift, along with off-the-wall audio commentary from the band members.
Mind the Drift with audio commentary

The goofball comments, washes of static, computer voice passages, burps and bubbling bong hits throughout the commentary confirm that Big Business don't take most things too seriously. But, as evidenced by the plundering beats and awe-inspiring riffage, they're dead serious about songwriting. While the tunes on Mind the Drift follow the same chaotic constructs as their first two discs, there's more of an emphasis on guitar, providing more sonic shades for the musicians to trample.

To support Mind the Drift, Big Business will launch a tour with Tweak Bird on April 22 in Dallas. Dates run through June 2 in San Diego.

"'Silenced' is about going to war and having everything you’ve seen and been through silenced because of government intervention," Sean Z told Revolver. "[It's] Sort of like the Russian sub Kursk that sank, and the government shut everyone and everything up to conceal the reason the nuclear sub went down. All the supporting countries knew about it and Russia said they’d attack on site anyone who tried to help their fallen comrades."

There are traditional Slayer fans who wear Reign in Blood t-shirts twice a week, there are extremists who do crazy things like carve the band's name in their arms and then there are the closet devotees -- people you'd never peg as fans, but who might actually appreciate the band's music more than anyone. Nadja's frontman Aidan Baker and bassist Leah Buckareff fall into this latter category.

The Toronto-based experimental doom/drone band have expressed their kinship with Slayer not through their appearance, but with a radical revision of "Dead Skin Mask" from Slayer's 1990 legendary album Seasons in the Abyss.

Click "More" to download an MP3 of the creepy cover and read Baker's comments about the song.

"Dead Skin Mask" will be featured on the new Nadja covers record When I See the Sun Always Shines on TV, which comes out April 28 on The End Records.

"Seasons in the Abyss was the first Slayer album I picked up (on cassette, to date myself), Baker says. "I don't really remember why, actually, since I listened to more punk than metal -- but Slayer's always been a bit more punk-sounding than most metal bands. I've always been into Seasons more than Reign In Blood, even if the latter is the more punk record, and 'Dead Skin Mask' was always a favorite. We had also thought about covering 'Necrophobic' from Reign. We actually did record a version, but our take of 'Dead Skin Mask' sounded better -- probably because it's a slower song and is a bit more about atmosphere than about speed, which is more fitting to the Nadja sound."

When I See the Sun Always Shines on TV also features versions of My Bloody Valentine's "Only Shallow," Codeine's "Pea," Swans "No Cure For the Lonely," A-ha's "The Sun Always Shines on TV," Elliott Smith's "Needle in the Hay," Kids in the Hall's "Long Dark Twenties" and The Cure's "Faith."

Now download our exclusive MP3 of Nadja's cover of Slayer's "Dead Skin Mask."

Over the past year, thrash metal veterans Testament have put on some dynamite shows, both as headliners and opening for Judas Priest, Heaven and Hell and Motorhead on the Metal Masters tour. But as accomplished and proficient as they've become, they were, perhaps, even more aggressive, hungry and explosive 20 years ago, as evidenced by the worldwide premiere of the full-length, 10-song Live at Eindhoven '87 album, which comes out April 14 on Prosthetic Records. (click "more" to hear a track from the album and read liner notes penned by guitarist Alex Skolnick)

If the title Live at Eindhoven sounds familiar that's because it came out as a five-track vinyl and cassette EP on Megaforce Records in 1987 between the release of the band's 1987 debut The Legacy and 1988's The New Order. The second half of the show remained unheard. But when the band recently dug out the master tapes and gave them a listen just for kicks, they were pleasantly surprised by the infectious energy emanating from the speakers. So they contacted Prosthetic, which had recently reissued their 1997 offering Demonic and 1999's The Gathering and made plans to resurrect Live at Eindhoven as a full album.

The disc features Testament's lineup from The Legacy -- vocalist Chuck Billy, guitarists Alex Skolnick and Eric Peterson, bassist Greg Christian, and drummer Louie Clemente -- and the recording was remastered by Carson Slova (Century, All that Remains) and includes liner notes by Skolnick.

The full track list for Live at Eindhoven '87:
Apocalyptic City
First Strike Is Deadly
Burnt Offerings
Alex Skolnick guitar solo
Over The Wall
Obviously, heavy metal ringleaders Lamb of God have a lot in common with groups like Death Cab For Cutie, Belle and Sebastian and TV on the Radio, so it makes perfect sense that their newest song "Broken Hands" is streaming exclusively on Spin.com (if there was an emoticon for 'we're being sarcastic as f--k,' we'd put about 10 right here!!!)

Anyway, someone for some reason decided that was a good place to premiere the song and we're absolutely positive that the 36 metalheads who read their site will be completely stoked. We hate to contribute to their traffic, but you gotta hear this thing. Click "more" to stream "Broken Hands."
