Over the past year, thrash metal veterans Testament have put on some dynamite shows, both as headliners and opening for Judas Priest, Heaven and Hell and Motorhead on the Metal Masters tour. But as accomplished and proficient as they've become, they were, perhaps, even more aggressive, hungry and explosive 20 years ago, as evidenced by the worldwide premiere of the full-length, 10-song Live at Eindhoven '87 album, which comes out April 14 on Prosthetic Records. MTV2 will be teaming up with Revolver magazine to present the premiere hard rock and heavy metal awards show, the first annual Epiphone Revolver Golden Gods Awards, which will storm through Los Angeles' Club Nokia on Tuesday, April 7. The event will feature Ozzy Osbourne, Killswitch Engage, Tool vocalist Maynard James Keenan and more, and will be aired on MTV2 as a one-hour special on Saturday, May 2.

"We're working really hard to make this an event worthy of the music it celebrates," Revolver editor in chief Tom Beaujour tells HeadbangersBlog.com. "Metal deserves this and deserves to have it done f---ing right." Read more...

We can't imagine a name that sounds less metal than Twitter or a logo less inclined to conjure images of hatred, carnage and high-velocity riffage. But we recognize the importance of social networking, so we've dropped our guard and joined the Twitter community. You can read our, err, Tweets at www.twitter.com under the name HeadbangersBlog.

This is a story we didn't expect to be reporting. The original lineup of Limp Bizkit, the '90s nu-metal outfit that plagued the world with hits like "Nookie" and "Break Stuff," is getting back together together yet again.

We find this particularly strange because it was only a week ago that guitarist Borland announced that he would never return to the band. "I have no plans on working with Limp again," he told mlive.com. "It's better for me for sure. I'm having a great time doing [the band Black Light Burns]. I can write a song and know what it's about and tailor the music about the intensity of the vocals. It all makes sense together, instead of random lyrics on top of music that sounds cool."

Our friends at Talking Metal, John Ostronomy and Mark Strigl, recently talked to Neversoft lead designer Alan Flores about one of the most eagerly anticipated videogames of the year, "Guitar Hero: Metallica," which comes out this spring. Click "more" to watch the exclusive interview, which covers: the creation of the game, Metallica's involvement in the process, the Metallica and non-Metallica songs players can choose from and how drummers who want to rock the double-bass can satisfy their dreams. The clip also offers footage of the "Talking Metal" guys and Flores jamming out on the game, as well as previously unseen footage.

Our friends at Rhapsody.com recently contacted a bunch of metal dudes to get their take on Sunday's big game. Here's what Gwar frontman Oderus Urungus had to say:

"The fact that the Cardinals are in the Super Bowl shows how crazy the league has become. On any given Sunday anybody -- except Detroit -- is capable of beating anybody in the league, and in any single game careers can be lost and seasons ruined. I'd root for the Cards if Warner would quit doing shout-outs to God. God doesn't give a sh*t about football. In fact, God is dead ..."

Igor Cavalera likes to keep it in the family. When he isn't bashing heads with his brother Max in Cavalera Conspiracy he's opening minds minds with his wife Laima Leyton in his heavy electronic dance project Mix Hell. Click "more" to see the duo in action. Read more...

Praise be to Jah! A full-length  Bad Brains documentary is finally on the way, and it looks like it's gonna rock from D.C. to Jamaica and around the world, wherever peace and weed are sold.

The yet-untitled film was directed by Mandy Stein and Ben Logan and traces the history of the band from their formation in Washington, D.C. in 1979 to the present day. In addition to tons of footage from the band's vault, the movie includes interviews with all four members (vocalist HR, guitarist Dr. Know, bassist Darryl Jenifer and drummer Earl Hudson) and their manager Anthony Countey, as well as testimonials from Henry Rollins, ex-Minor Threat and Fugazi vocalist Ian MacKaye, ex-Minor Threat guitarist Lyle Preslar, ex-Cro Mags vocalist Jon Joseph and guitarist Harley Flanagan, Murphys Law guitarist Jimmy Gestapo and Beastie Boys' Adam Yauch, who produced Bad Brains 2007 album Build a Nation.

In addition to giving birth to the hardcore movement with their song "Pay to Cum" and inspiring all of the aforementioned musicians in the process, the Bad Brains had a huge influence on a new breed of late '80 and early '90s metal bands, including Living Colour, Faith No More, 24-7 Spyz and Fishbone. While the Bad Brains flick is currently in post-production, it will be ready for release in a Jamaican minute. Click "more" to watch a preview. Read more...

Odin seems to be on the side of Norwegian Pagan warriors, Enslaved.
