Here is the first video from Arkaea's debut album Years in the Darkness. If you aren't familiar with Arkaea yet, you may be familiar with some of their members. Christian Olde Wolbers and Raymond Herrera formally played in Fear Factory, while Jon Howard and Pat Kavanagh has previously contributed to Threat Signal. Years in the Darkness will be released on July 14th, here's what drummer Raymond Herrera had to say about his new band's video debut:

Locust was the our first pick for a music video and as the opening track for the album because it really sets the tempo of the album and is a strong track that shows a great introduction to what Arkaea is all about. We knew that we needed to come out swinging and Locust definitely offers that Punch.

We filmed the video for Locust in downtown Los Angeles, we had a great time making the video and look forward to seeing the response. -- Raymond Herrera

As a member of the hardcore/ screamo/ metal with my sister in Eyes Set To Kill, we have long wondered, "Where are all the other girls in hardcore/ screamo/ metal?? It's always been like that, ever since I started Eyes Set To Kill with my sister. Sure there are some girls, but not enough! Now, I am no feminist but wouldn't it be nice to see more girls with the guts to play music of genres that are mainly dominated by boys? I don't mind living in a world of dirty "bros" and endless road trips. BUT ALL I AM SAYING is that some of you female musicians are missing out on all the fun. Stop playing that guitar alone in you room with you door locked shut! Don't be ashamed or embarrassed. Don't be shy to the dream that you only pursue when your sleeping! Don't be afraid of what other girls or guys will think of you. Just make a difference with me and the few out there before its too late!! Your destiny awaits!

We're thrilled to present the new God Forbid video "War of Attrition." The video was was shot by acclaimed director Ian McFarland (Sick of It All) and captures the band’s frenetic stage show. See it again when it airs on MTV2’s Headbangers Ball this Saturday night.

“Shooting videos kinda sucks. Especially performance videos," says guitarist Doc Coyle. "You have to head bang for 10 hours in a row, fake play your songs, and you don't even know if all the work will pay off with an awesome video. With that said, this is by far the best performance video we've ever had and it really captures the intensity of the song. As you can see from the clip, we really put our trust in Ian who was incredible to work with. Ian and his crew were super professional. I can't wait for everyone to see the finished product. And like Dave Chappelle says, ‘Everything looks better in slow motion.’"

I must say it’s really disturbing that music education has fallen to the bottom of the list of priorities in today’s education system. I’ve had many people ask me after Owl shows, ''What is that instrument you play? Is that a cello?” In addition to the traditional electric bass guitar, it’s the upright bass/double bass that I play. I’m always happy to explain and clarify to people, but I can’t help wondering what the hell is going on here? Read more...

LOW-TECH IN A HIGH-TECH WORLD

I often see raised eyebrows on my friends faces when I show them my low-tech cell phone. It is one of the cheapest models you can buy and can only be used to send text messages with an occasional phone call of course, nothing more. My friends wonder why I don’t have the latest generation with iTunes, TV and movies etc. ”But Leif, you travel so much, being away from home with no computer or TV around. Why don’t you get a 3G phone?” I always answer, ”I just buy a book and today’s newspaper and I’m set. Or maybe I actually spend some time with people.” Read more...

We first heard Abattoir on the 1983 compilation album Metal Massacre IV, which also featured Trouble, Lizzy Borden and Zoetrope. So much did we like the band's screechy song "Screams From the Grave," that we scurried out to purchase the band's 1985 debut Vicious Attack when it came out. Sadly, the band's two follow-ups kind of blew, and in the late '80s Abattoir herded themselves to the slaughter house. So, imagine our surprise when we discovered the band recently reunited to play the Keep it True Festival XII in Germany on April 24. We certainly hope there's more to come. Click "more" to watch Abbatoir perform "The Only Safe Place/Bring on the Damned" and "Game of Death." at the show.

Ministry's Al Jourgensen may be credited with founding the industrial metal music scene, but for those really in the know, there is no bigger fan when it comes to hockey, and in particular, his hometown team, the Chicago Blackhawks. In fact, Jourgensen loves the Blackhawks so much, last year he gifted the team with a new theme song, "Keys to the City."

With the Blackhawks in the NHL Playoffs, Jourgensen has been applying his wit and his encyclopedic knowledge of the sport, the players and the politics to his own talk radio show, "Uncle Al's Puck Talk," heard on WXRK-FM's (104.9) Stone & Double T's show every Wednesday at 5:00PM Eastern and streamed at http://www.wxrx.com.
