Bethel, Connecticut band Sacred Oath recently released its fourth record Sacred Oath, and just three days later the album hit #46 on the iTunes rock chart. "This is our time. Classic metal is back," says singer Rob Thorne. "Hand me the damn flag, I’ll wave it with pride.”
To help the band celebrate its success, HeadbangersBlog.com is proud to present the online debut of their new video "Counting Zeros."
"I couldn’t be happier," said Thorne. "Counting Zeros is my favorite track on the album for so many reasons, not least of which is the lyric content. A few years ago we were uncovering the corruption underneath the war in Iraq. Now we’re neck deep in AIG bonuses and Bernie Madoff. 'Counting Zeros' is a call to arms." When Connecticut hardcore metal masters, Hatebreed, started working on their covers album, For the Lions, they weren't planning to include any tracks by Slayer, and not because they weren't worthy. Slayer, says frontman Jamey Jasta was so influential and so supportive to Hatebreed that the band didn't want to pay them a disservice by screwing up one of their songs. Fortunately, Hatebreed changed their mind because "Ghosts of War," from Slayer's 1988 album South of Heaven is an excellent tribute to the masters, faithfully executed without being a photocopy of the original. Now that I have got your attention, listen closely. I won't repeat myself. Read these words. I speak these truths. Watch them bring us down. I speak the truth. You will be known for nothing. You will be left for dead.
Hey, those aren't are words, they're some of the lyrics from Within the Ruins' "Extinguish Them." And if you think that's cynical, check out these: "Devour the sick and spit out the weak... Sell the poor to the slaves and extinguish them. Chapels burn and rooftops crash... I hate the world." Read more...
