The new album by Bleeding Through, Declaration, is an explosive blend of fiery black metal, inflammatory hardcore, and combustible thrash, so naturally, the first video for the record, "Death Anxiety," had to be filled with flames. To tackle the job, the band hired Dave Brodsky and he was more than up to the task. Here's singer Brandan Schieppati to tell us more:
The first line in 'Death Anxiety' says, "My body will be set aflame tonight." We knew we wanted something straightforward with this video, performance driven and without some storyline or whatever. We didn't want to be playing in a warehouse while some actors do something "spooky" somewhere else. With that being said, that first line in the song was too hard to resist. This video had to have fire! (Click more to read the rest of Schieppati's commentary and watch the video. "Death Anxiety" will debut on-air tonight at 10 p.m. on MTV2 as part of our 20th anniversary celebration of "Headbangers Ball.") Read more...

"This video is so simple," says The Sword frontman J.D. Cronise of "How Heavy This Axe." "It really warrants no explanation."
Kind of like the band's music, a molten amalgam of doom, thunder and war that draws equally from midtempo Black Sabbath and slow Metallica. The Sword have never denied that their tunes are influenced by songs from a past era (the above, plus Pentagram, Trouble, Cathedral and St. Vitus). Similarly, the new clip is a celebration of another culture and time.
"It's an homage to the psychedelic rock performance videos of the late '60s and early '70s," Cronise tells HeadbangersBlog.com. "It's just some dudes rocking out in front of some trippy backgrounds."

if this Christian metalcore thing doesn't work out, War of Ages are fully qualified to return to ditch digging
Many video directors ignore song titles and even lyrics when putting together treatments for rock videos. Andy Reale didn't just heed the title "Through the Flames" when shooting the new War of Ages video, he took it literally. The track is from the band's latest album, Arise and Conquer, which came out July 22. Click "more" to hear singer Leroy Hamp describe the video, then watch it and see if he got it right. Catch it again on Saturday's "Headbangers Ball," which airs this week from 2 to 3 a.m. (Set your TIVO). Read more...

There's something a little weird about going to see Kingdom of Sorrow with Gwar and Toxic Holocaust and finding out that guitarist and singer Kirk Windstein isn't there 'cause he's off touring with Down. It's kinda like buying a ticket to a Yankees game and discovering Derek Jeter's taken the day off to go fly fishing. You're still gonna get a hell of a game, but it's just not the same.
Of course, frontman Jamey Jasta's still a monster, and we're sure that Kingdom of Sorrow are
tearing it up with touring guitarist Kenny Hickey (Type O Negative), but there's something comforting about having the burly, belligerent and often drunk Windstein screaming and strumming away hard enough to sever fingertips as you drink enough to piss out a small fire. No such hiccup with the new Kingdom of Sorrow video for "Lead the Ghosts Astray," which features all of the members shouting away and rocking it up like a dysfunctional family. God bless America. The new look of Finnish monster rock band Lordi
Horrific, cinematic and endlessly entertaining, Lordi are still very much a club band in the U.S., yet in their native land of Finland they've been superstars for a while. Maybe that's how they cranked out the cash for elaborate costumes, deluxe art work and pristine production. And it certainly explains how put together such a stark, gloomy and expensive looking video for "Bite it Like a Bulldog," the first single from their new album, Deadache, which comes out October 28, just in time for Halloween.
Here's what frontman Mr. Lordi told HeadbangersBlog.com about the clip, which was directed by Limppu Lindberg. "We wanted to achieve something that breaks the tradition of Lordi videos. The director has been my graphic 'right hand' for years, and we felt that it was time to let him have a try on this side, too. His previous work includes videos for Children Of Bodom, Norther and many other Finnish metal bands."
For the video, the band wanted to get away from the straightforward work they've done in the past and try something more cryptic and dark. "The idea was to have a video with a not-so-simple and easily understandable storyline," Lordi said. "We wanted the clip to focus on the feeling of the song and the new, more grotesque look of the band. The modern horror film classics such as 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre' remake and 'Hostel' were the starting points and the influence for the visual look."
"Bite it Like a Bulldog" was shot over two straight days in Rovaniemi, a town in the Arctic Circle in Finnish Lapland. But despite the remote location and macabre atmosphere and party-vibe of the song, nothing of note happened at the shoot -- nothing but hard work and excellent performances. "Usually at video shoots, there really isn't any funny incidents happening to us," shrugs Lordi. "I don't know why that is. It's always about trying to beat the clock, so maybe there's no time for anything but work to happen."

These guys are from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, which is most famous for being the location where psycho Army veteran Timothy McVeigh bombed the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in 1995, killing 168. McVeigh was convicted of 11 federal offenses and died by lethal injection in 2001. Fortunately, Bleed the Sky have a more constructive outlet for their hostility and misanthropy -- Playing brutal, face-lacerating metal and... drinking like a pack of dehydrated hippos.
