To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Voodoo Fest in New Orleans, Louisiana, the festival organizers have posted a batch of professionally shot vintage videos on their Web site, some of which are very metal, indeed.

This year, the event will go down October 24, 25 and 26 and will feature a diverse range of acts, including Nine Inch Nails, Stone Temple Pilots, Mars Volta, Butthole Surfers and loads of jazz, funk, blues, soul, emo, hip-hop and electronic acts.

exclusive photos by Mike Miller

On Tuesday, September 30, Norwegian melodic black metal band Dimmu Borgir attended the Los Angeles screening of their new double-disc DVD, "The Invaluable Darkness," which comes out October 14. After the screening, "Metalocalypse" co-creator Brendon Small conducted an interview with guitarist Silenoz before opening up the Q&A session to the fans. And photographer Mike Miller was there to shoot some exclusive photos for us. Click "more" to check 'em out, watch a preview of the DVD and see the new video for "The Chosen Legacy." Read more...

Last week, we posted a guest blog by Cattle Decapitation vocalist Travis Ryan, in which the grindcore growler discussed espoused the virtues of Carcass and explained how his faith in metal was restored when he attended the group's reunion show in Hollywood at the House of Blues.

Even if you weren't there or at any of the other Carcass shows, you can see what Ryan was talking about 'cause, thanks to the magic of bootlegging, a dude who goes by the moniker Sickvideo, has posted a really decent sounding clip of the band. This is about about as you're gonna get with a one camera shoot. Click "more" to watch footage of Carcass' "Jigsore Quandary" and "Carnal Forge." Read more...

Nevermind that none of the members of Rush are Jewish. That's not stopping VH1 Classics from devoting 24 hours of programming to the Canadian power trio starting at sunset on September 29 -- the beginning of Rosh Hashanah (which the network will celebrate as RUSH Hashanah).

The tribute to Rush will include two of the band's concert DVD, "Rush in Rio" and 'R30" as well as past and present videos from band. Rush will release a new concert DVD, "Snakes and Arrows Live," on November 25. Dust off your shofar and play along with these classics: Read more...

We're about to find out just how close to a million copies Metallica's new album Death Magnetic sold in its first week. In an effort to provide the band support and, perhaps, some sort of psychic sales energy during the past seven days, a number of groups have been celebrating at the altar of the thrash legends, including underground metalheads F--k the Facts and Psyopus which have covered a different 'Tallica song every Friday on their Grinding to Cataclysm tour. Our friends at MetalInjection.net have been there with cameras rolling and have captured some pretty entertaining footage. Click "more" to watch their covers of "Creeping Death" and "Master of Puppets," warts and all: Read more...

Let's start the morning with a cup of coffee and the brand new video by Children of Bodom, "Smile Pretty For the Devil." What a cool title. Makes us think of a four year old girl we know who wears flowery dresses all the time and flashes the devil's horns and a winning grin to anyone who aims a camera her way. The song comes from the band's latest album Blooddrunk, and the clip was directed by Sandra Marschner. "Smile Pretty For the Devil" will premiere on-air on Saturday's "Headbangers Ball," which starts this week at its new time, 11 p.m.

It could have been a deranged (or perhaps quite sane) Slipknot fan that jumped onstage in Toronto during an Oasis show and shoved guitarist Noel Gallagher into the audience, but it probably wasn't.

The incident happened Sunday night in front of 40,000 spectators at the V Festival and Gallagher suffered a suspected broken rib from the attack, which was caught on tape by a concertgoer and -- while we don't support anyone being attacked onstage (except maybe the Jonas Brothers) -- the footage is pretty hysterical. And considering how arrogant and irreverent Gallagher has been over the years, maybe there's something karmic about it all. (click "more" to see the video).

After Gallagher crashed into the pit, his brother and singer Liam tried to beat down the assailant, but security guards were there to separate the two and drag the attacker offstage. Following a brief break, Oasis -- of whom Metallica's Lars Ulrich has said he's a big fan -- returned to finish the set. Read more...

We're guessing not too many of you tuned in to watch this year's MTV Video Music Awards since the program didn't feature any heavy metal awards and the "Best Hard Rock" video went to Linkin Park, which some may embrace as a guilty pleasure, but let's face it, they ain't metal. Hell, they're barely hard rock.

Still, there were some cool metal moments at the event, including Slipknot on the red carpet and a brief post-show interview with the band. Plus, we've got some nice photos for you. Click "more" to see it all. Read more...

British thrash band Evile's debut album, Enter the Grave, is one of our favorite new old-school thrash releases. On October 13, the band will reissue the disc with bonus tracks and a two-hour plus DVD. The DVD will feature in studio scenes, rehearsal clips and behind the scenes tour footage. The re-release will also include an Enter the Grave woven patch and an Evile guitar pick.

Until then, click "more" to watch an interview with Evile and footage of them jamming along to their Rock Band XBox 360/PS3 track "Thrasher." Read more...

The side project of As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis, Austrian Death Machine, have released their first video and it's a crazy and action-packed as "Total Recall" -- well, almost. For those, unfamiliar with the group, Austrian Death Machine write songs about Arnold Schwartzenegger movies and are allegedly fronted by the muscular Ahhnold. Click "more" to watch "Get to the Choppa," the title of which comes from the 1987 film "Predator." Read more...
