The new Gojira album, The Way of all Flesh, is all about mortality and the lyrics are rife with messages of decay and destruction. It seems like some pretty nihilistic stuff. How strange, then, that when we invited frontman Joe Duplantier to write a guest blog, he submitted an essay about positive thinking. Clearly there's more to this man (and band) than meets the eye:
The way we think can affect ourselves and the world on a very profound way. It's obvious that positive thinking is a force that brings oneself forward and our intentions and ideas have an impact on life in general.
An example of negative thinking: "I am weak, ugly and it is not cool to hang out with me." If I think this way, I'll look worried and sad, my self-confidence disappears and after a while, this thought becomes reality. I'll be on my own...
An example of positive thinking: "I am strong, nice, and I'm good company for others." In that case, I project a good energy and image of myself. The simple fact is that such an attitude will bring confidence and a relaxing vibe that will communicate something positive and constructive. The French may hate American politics, and perhaps, Americans as a whole, but they love Metallica almost as much as they adore Jerry Lewis. Last night, the band performed on the French TV program "Taratata" on France 4, and not long after it ended, the Metalllica portion was broadcast across the Net.

For their new video, "Honey and Sulfphur," Cradle of Filth entered a 22-mile long cave in Chislehurst, South London and surrounded themselves with acrobats, stilt-walkers and tons of lit torches. The track comes from the band's upcoming album, Godspeed on the Devil's Thunder, which comes out October 28. Click "more" to see a preview of the vid: Read more...

With Halloween around the corner and all, it seems like a good time to introduce this low budget slasher music video by Connecticut melodic death metal band Autumns Eyes. We especially like the sped-up shots of the hot chick sadistically carving the crap out of a pumpkin. But what goes around comes around, and before long some caped, masked evildoers are chasing her through the woods with their own sharpened blades.
The song comes from the band's latest EP Surrender the Fire, which includes a cover of Dimmu Borgir's "Mourning Palace." Click "more" to enjoy the EP and video in their entirety. Read more...
