Greek prog-power metal band Firewind have started working on a video for their song "Breaking the Silence," which appears on the band's fourth album, Allegiance, reports Blabbermouth The clip, which is being directed by Patric Ullaeus (Lacuna Coil, In Flames) will feature a guest spot with the lovely singer Tara Teresa.
On this weekend's Headbangers Ball catch the band's last video, "Falling to Pieces," which was also directed by Ullaeus.

Firewind are currently touring without singer Apollo Papathanasio, who recently suffered an unspecified family emergency that had to be taken care of. Metalium vocalist Henning Basse has filled in for Firewind's European dates, however the band expects to have Papathanasio back by the time they make their U.S. debut at ProgPower USA on October 5 in Atlanta.

The new single by Norwegian black metal monsters Dimmu Borgir, "The Serpentine Offering," will be premiered tonight on the "Tinitus" radio show on Norway's P3. According to Blabbermouth, the program can also be heard on the Internet here: www.nrk.no/tinitus.

"Serpentine Offering" will be available as a digital download starting March 30. The single will also include two non-album versions of the song, which will be featured on Dimmu Borgir's next studio album In Sorte Diaboli, which is scheduled for release on April 27.

Ever wonder what Iron Maiden's heralded mascot Eddie might have looked like had Spongebob Squarepants existed in 1980? Us neither, but some artist dude named Hans Claesson did, and he has posted a bunch of his imaginative renderings here.

The animating staff of Kewabe.com created the site, and Blabbermouth points out that the domain also includes a "Create Your Own SpongeEd" Flash game.

As for Iron Maiden, the band's long-awaited live DVD, "Death on the Road" was finally released in the U.S. on January 30. Shot at the Westenfalenhalle Arena in Dortmund, Germany, the show was edited by band bassist Steve Harris.

Slipknot/Stone Sour lead singer Corey Taylor unleashed his new baldy (no) hair-do at a show in Denmark on February 11, Blabbermouth reports. Today, photos have popped up on photog Jacob Dinesen's website.

Call us old-fashioned, but we love the more "traditional" Slipknot look as seen in our Bang of the Day.
