Much of next week's "Headbangers Ball" is already programmed, but there's one slot that's open and it's up to you to decide what video gets played. Yes, it's time for you to take a stand and choose one new video from last weekend's show to return next week. As always, past winners are not eligible for your vote; that means last week's winner Terror can't win and neither can Whitechapel, so don't waste your time voting for either.
Still, we've got some pretty strong candidates remaining, including The Gates of Slumber with "Trapped in the Web," which we premiered last week, Slipknot's "Psychosocial," we received its Headbangers debut last week and the new one by Shadows Fall, "Forevermore."
The rules are simple. Only ONE vote is allowed for each IP address. It doesn't matter if you use a different screen name. If you vote twice from the same computer, you will be disqualified. A short message before we get into this week's competition: Last week the astute judges of "Your Vote Counts" noticed that many of the votes being cast were coming from the same IP addresses. The day after those colorful fireworks lit up the sky, we had our own explosions on "Headbangers Ball," with debuts of Lair of the Minotaur's "War Metal Battle Master," Municipal Waste's "Sadistic Magician," and Lamb of God's "Walk with Me in Hell" (from their new DVD of the same name). Why would four dudes from Seattle call themselves Lesbian? "Because its name evokes pure, sexually charged freedom -- and that's what rock is all about." That comes from the band's own press release, not us, so you know it's got to be true.
The group's debut album, Power Hor, is an amalgam of various incendiary styles, including psychedelic, doom, thrash, black, progressive and classic metal, and the four lengthy songs on the disc stomp and lumber like a brontosaurus leveling a lesbian gym.
"Fans of bands like Neurosis, Emperor, Skullflower, Boris, Pelican, Sleep and Isis now have a band that amazingly sounds like a hybrid of all of those legendary groups." Again, that's the publicist's words, not ours. We simply cannot find words to describe this synapse-frazzling, genre-defying thunderstorm of broken glass, bile and beer.
