In a unanimous decision, death grinders Cattle Decapitation mopped the crimson floor with both Static-X and Within the Ruins in this week's "Your Vote Counts." And so, the victors' new video "Regret and the Grave" will air on the next "Headbangers Ball," a special two-hour episode that airs from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. on MTV2. We're real fond of the new Cattle Decapitation video for "Regret and the Grave," so we're kinda banking on you guys showing it your support and voting it back for next week's episode of "Headbangers Ball." Now, we're not trying to sway your vote or nothin,' but for some reason we just love the idea of a slaughterhouses being built for humans, and the image of cows forcing people through herding mazes and into tiny little cages -- and we're full-fledged carnivores, though, for health reasons, we're partial to the mistreatment of chickens than cows.

Since new videos by Mastodon, Lamb of God and Dope have already won "Your Vote Counts" recently (meaning they can't win again), and old videos are ineligible, the competition's not all that stiff. Click more to see who Cattle Decapitation are up against and place your vote. Read more...

When we were young, we once saw an advertisement for a concert featuring Slayer, Venom and Exodus at the disco club Studio 54 in New York City. At the time we thought this was the heaviest, most insane metal bill ever conceived. Of course, that was 1985, and since then band after band have redefined the very definition of heavy, Since then, we've seen Possessed rip it up with Dark Angel, and we've watched Napalm Death, Carcass and Morbid Angel tear it up together on an Earache showcase, not to mention Deicide sharing a bill with, Obituary, Malevolent Creation and Cannibal Corpse. When you've been around since 1996, and you've built a steady underground following by playing extreme death metal/grindcore, and then all of a sudden a bunch of new, young deathcore bands come along and steal your thunder by squealing like pigs and playing breakdown after breakdown, you're bound to get a little ticked off. So it is with Cattle Decapitation. Read more...

Cattle Decapitation have never minced words when it comes to their disdain for minced meat -- or any other kind of meat for that matter. So, why would a restaurant in their hometown of San Diego name a burger after the grindcore veterans? Simple, there's no meat in the burger.

The Cattle Decapitation burger at Hamilton's Pub and Cafe is an all-vegan patty made from black beans, garlic, corn, potatoes and a secret mix of spices. The burger comes with homemade pub chips and a side of vegan sweet coconut curry sauce.

The burger is now available on the menu for $7.50. On January 20 Cattle Decapitation's new album The Harvest Floor will be on the menu of most decent record stores and online outlets. Click "more" to find out how you can hear it streaming in full. Read more...

What is it about grindcore and vegetarians? It's not like there's a connection between insanely fast riffs, blinding blastbeats, indecipherable vocals and healthy eating. Yet Carcass, members of Napalm Death and Cattle Decapitation forgo the consumption of meat -- despite having canine teeth suited for meat-eating mammals -- in favor of green, leafy vegetables.

Then again, if we were musicians and had to subsist strictly on diets of soy products and green vegetables, we'd be pretty angry, too, and, if we didn't wind up writing hateful songs that sounded like the Jonas Brothers of Pink, we might make music in the vein of Cattle Decapitation.

The San Diego grinders recently finished their new album, The Harvest Floor, which will come out January 20. "Sonically, the band has managed to finally capture and accentuate its live intensity that we've become known for and has created one hell of an album from start to epic finish! Conceptually, its misanthropy shall go unmatched. This is it, humans... ferocity at its finest," writes the band on its MySpace.

We got so many responses to our request for musicians to comment about the election of Barack Obama as the next Commander-In-Chief of the United States that we've written up a second post for the latest batch. Pessimism -- Recanting the Saudadeous: My Carcass Reunion Show Experience
by Travis Ryan

I wasn’t going to do it. I honestly can't remember the last time I paid for a show, let alone fifty f--kin' dollars for one. It was actually no surprise to me to hear that Carcass was going to play the States. My band Cattle Decapitation had been talking to various booking agents and managers for the last year or so trying our hardest to land a slot on the tour. Didn't happen. So, I knew there was no way I was going to pay all that to get in. Perhaps we would know one of the support bands and get a hook up that way? At the last minute possible, my buddy Sal hit me up saying they had an extra spot in the car and an extra ticket. I wasn’t going to miss this, especially after the adrenaline and rush of nostalgia that hit me while watching the videos of their performances on the European festivals on the Internet. Some of the world's angriest grindcore vegetarians, Cattle Decapitation, have entered Sharkbite studios in Oakland, California to record their new album. The band will track drums with Zach Ohren (All Shall Perish, Decrepit Birth) and will record the rest of the album with Billy Anderson, who will also mix the disc.

"This is going to be devastating, we promise," said the band on its MySpace. "The new material is over the top. The lyrics as hateful as 'Karma.Bloody.Karma' but much more disgusting this time around.

Really? More disgusting than: "Ancupunctured face with the blades of a rake/ Skinned alive, hung on the line to dry/ Sinew and fatty tissue for soup stock/ Bones collected for future fertilizer" ("Total Gore")?

At recent shows, Cattle Dacapitation previewed some of the new album tracks, including "Tooth Enamel & Concrete", "Regret & the Grave", "We Are Horrible People" and "The Body Farm." Click "more" to watch part one of their in studio video diary. Read more...
